We're smiling because my daughter made the Deans List this past semester.

We're so proud.

She works three days a week and goes to school full time. Between work and school she had full schedule. On Weds. she didn't even get home until 10 pm. Then up and out to work at 7:30 the next morning. This time next year, I hope to be posting to tell you that she's graduated with her Bachelors Degree. I do wish we were in a position financially to tell her that she didn't have to work and she could just go to school, but that's not the case right now. (two in college at the same time.

) Hopefully 2011 will bring us back into a better economy. That being said, I'm so proud of the woman she's become. She met a nice young man about a year ago,(that makes me sound
old using that term..huh?

). I have a feeling when I see the way they look at one another, that I'm looking at my future son-inlaw.

Bob told me tonight that I did a good job with her, but truth be told, she has her father's positive, cheerful attitude and it has served her well.
When I told her younger brother (who is a college freshman) that his sister made the Deans list. He paused for a moment and then told me he could do her one better.

He then shared with me....
"She may have made the Deans list...but I have
met with the Dean"

......You don't even want to know.

Let's just say that luckily for that boy of mine,..he's got his grandfathers Irish charm,

and can talk himself out of almost any scrape.
We've had a rough time the last couple of years. Health issues, my parents being ill. Dad passing away last Thanksgiving, and Bob's mom right before Christmas this year. The holidays have taken a real hit.

Sometimes I think we're under this black cloud that we just can't seem to shake.

It can get a little depressing. Then I started thinking about my kids. What's going on in their lives. How through it all..they seemed to have managed to come through okay.
I used to worry about the amount of time spent caring for my parents was time away from them. Yet, they have become pretty compassionate individuals themselves. Oh, I know I still have my trials ahead of me with the 19 year old.

Oh yeah, Mr. Smooth talker,

he's gonna give me a real run for my money. Yep, it's likely my hairdresser is gonna do very well the next few years.
I just wanted to take a minute or two and well, brag. No, I don't have geniuses, and they haven't won any major awards, and no they haven't cured any diseases...but you know what? They are becoming some pretty decent human beings..and I think..they're even happy. As a parent, you really can't ask for more than that.
Oh...and my truck DIED tonight. Right on the driveway. DEAD as a door nail.

DAMN THAT DARK CLOUD!

and ..if I could only get a few of these people to MOVE out instead of moving back in.
