After my mom died I was going through a drawer and found a Father’s Day card I helped my mom buy for my dad. She had dictated to me what she wanted to put in the card. I tucked into my drawer to save for Father’s Day. I think mom started to get worse around that time and we did not do much for Father’s Day that year because we were focused on mom. Three years later I found the card literally 2 days before Father’s Day. I gave it to my dad and he sobbed. It has been on his mantle since last year. They were married 54 years.

First, I am sorry about the loss of your Mother. What a wonderful remembrance to have come upon. I am glad that you framed it to hang on your wall. That kind of love is indeed special and something to be cherished.

Working for the State Department, occasionally DH and I would have separate assignments (only for a short time) but we had a long separation when he retired and stayed in the U.S. for a year to prepare our house for sale while I took an assignment in the Philippines. On my very first day at my new job, the mail brought me a beautiful "I Miss You" card that DH had mailed before I left. Every Monday after that, for the full year we were separated, I received a loving card from DH, which I pinned to the bulletin board in front of my desk. One visitor to the office said she hadn't received that many cards from her DH in their entire marriage, much less in the six months I had been there.

We've been married 52 years.

Too sweet... Great idea Framing it... very special...

When we cleaned out my grandparents house, we found so many cards that they had given each other over the years. One was so sweet, my grandmother had written inside, We started our lives just me and you together and will finish this life just me and you.. Together forever.... It was in the last birthday card she gave him, he passed away a few weeks after it.
