We are going to WDW for the first time in 3 weeks. I'm looking for a few ideas for little things that make it extra special for children. Things along the lines of decorating the room, possibly putting little surprises to find in the room upon return, etc. I want to make it a really fun trip for our DD. Thanks!

We took our daughter, who was 3 at the time, to get her hair cut in the MK at the barber shop. They were so good to here there. We had Michael and he gave her a nice trim, Pixie Dust in her hair, and he asked her who her favorite Princess was. My DD answered Mary Poppins, he called to find out where she was and made sure some one brought us over to her. Can't thank him enough!!
Also, we rented the Surry Bikes at the Boardwalk.. We biked for 1/2 hour around and she talked about that more than anything else.

Have a great trip!!

I hit some local stores at home for little treats for the kids while we're there.

I get Disney stickers at the Dollar Store and keep them in my bag. I give them to my DDs as little surprises during our trip.

I also buy glow necklaces at either the dollar store or a craft store. I pull them out for the kids when it gets dark. They love having the glowing necklaces and it makes it easier for us to spot them.

If you're staying on property, request a wakeup call and let your child answer the phone - it'll be a Disney character on the other end.

We got back a few weeks ago with our DD who will be 3 in February. She is really into dress up and princesses, but we normally only let her wear her costumes in the house. We took her Cinderella and Minnie dresses to WDW supposedly to just let her wear them at character meals. She got so much attention when she had her Cinderella dress on for the first character meal, that they were all she wanted to wear the rest of the week. It didn't bother her that she had been wearing the same dress for 3 days. All the extra attention she got from CMs and other park guests because of her costumes really made the trip special for her.

I found a lot of ideas on the Creative Disigns board. We have personalized welcome messages for when we arrive. We are doing the dining plan. I have personlized invites for each character and TS meal. I made M&M tubes for pressed pennies. I made a autograph book for autographs, and passport books for Epcot.

They also have a ton of designs for personalized t-shirts.

Good luck, and have a great vacation!

I just took my DS6 for the first time this past December and thought the trip in and of itself was special enough! On our first full park day we went to the Magic Kingdom and got 1st visit button before our before parkopening ADR at Crystal Palace - that was enough. That's why we didn't do the Merry Christmas Party - give him something to look forward to next time and don't overwhelm him too much the first time out. We also didn't make it to Animal Kingdom, another reason to come back :)

My dd10 just told me that her favorite memory of Disney was the backpack of goodies I packed for the plane! Go figure $xxx for hotel, $xx for tickets, Months of planning and she likes the goody bag the best!

I purchase items on sale or at the dollar tree prior to going and pack them in my suitcase. Each day I am the last one out of the hotel room and/or first one in the hotel room and I leave little "gifts" from Tinkerbell on their beds. This time I have princess and cars crayons and coloring books, little disney stuffed animals from the disney store clearance, disney shirts from black friday sales, disney stickers and art sets, disney candy, etc. For about $5 or less a day per kid (I have 2) I can really make their day. It also avoids having them ask for things in the shops all day. I just say, let's wait and see what Tinkerbell brings you. And they are usually ok with that and forgot whatever it was within 10 minutes.

It also is a good behavior modifier! LOL If they start acting up, I remind them that Tinkerbell is watching and the usually calm down quick.
