What laundry soap is your favorite? And, other laundry questions...

Tide seems to be very popular. Can someone tell me what is so good about it? Does it work better? I don't usually buy it because it costs more than the rest (even with a coupon). Also, unless I use the unscented Tide, it makes me itch for some reason.

I bought the Queen of Cleans book, and to my surprise she recommends using Purex! It's cheap, and according to her, it works just as well. I'm not sure about that. Any opinions?
What works best for you?

Also....do you use Oxy-clean in your laundry? Do you think the generic kinds work just as well? How about stain remover? I like Shout.

Thanks! Just looking for better ways to clean my kids clothes. They keep staining everything!! Especially my preschooler. She has a bad habit of using her clothes as a napkin!!

we have been using Arm and hammer with no perfumes or dyes.....we do not like the smell of all the stuff that is in them and also the fabric softeners......sort of allergic to them all

TIDE. I don't really know why it is my favorite. It seems like it works better than the others and it smells good. I like the liquid only.

I have always used Arm and Hammer. It gets out kid stains so well. It pretty inexpensive too, and I will swear by it (I got some serious stain-making kids )
I like Clorox 2 better than Oxyclean.

I used Cheer for years because it did a good job and smelled great. Several months ago I switched to something I like just as much...and it's cheaper! Now I've been using Purex. All the other brands keep on raising the price and shrinking the container. Purex smells great (I like the blue cap) and does a good job. And the container is still big! At $2.99 or even $3.99 a bottle, I can't complain. And a couple weeks ago at Kroger, they were buy one get one free!

I use Tide. My cousin is one of the Chemical Engineers responsible for making the bubbles (as she put it).. Her part is with the powder formula not the liquid. I just try to make sure she has a job.

Why is that surprising?

All - When it's 2 for whatever
Purex - When the others are not on sale.

I like Gain, too. It smells good. I used to use Surf but can't find it anymore.

I use Tide powder formula. It definitely works better than the others but I have alot of family members who are allergic to tide (causes rashes). There must be something in it.
I also use the shout stick with the scrubby thing on the end. Lava soap is good for some of those stains too.

I use Purex, mainly because my mom used Purex. Plus DH gets a rash from Tide. I also use Dreft stain remover on DDs clothes and swear by it.

We use Wisk. I buy it at Sam's Club for $12ish. That's pretty much all I use. What does OxyClean really do????

I usually use All and buy it when it's on sale.

For stain removing, I use Spray N Wash and if it's a really bad stain, I swear by Ivory bar soap. Just wet the soap and rub into the stain. Works like a charm!!

I was surprised that the Queen of clean recommended Purex only because it is one of the least expensive ones out there. No other reason. It was really refreshing, actually, that an "expert" recommended something that was not expensive. I use it sometimes, too. I buy all different kinds, but I haven't noticed a huge difference yet, that's why I wanted to know what other people like, and why. With certain products I just HAVE to spend the extra on the name brand because it is far superior---like Cascade dishwasher detergent. It works really great....other cheaper brands I have tried, because I had a coupon, left terrible spots and such.

I tried the
Arm and Hammer kind once and it made me itch, too. I was really surprised because I use baking soda on hives, to stop the itching. Doesn't that have baking soda in it? That was strange.

It was the first scent free laundry detergent around here. Tried Tide Free and son started itching again. They're made by the same company -- different detergents in them, though. Tide made it right by sending me coupons for 3 free bottles of Cheer Free.

It also seems to cut down on fading, too!

Tide with Bleach Alternative.. I used to use the cheaper detergents (like Purex and Gain), thought I was saving money, but I found that I was washing and rewashing my clothes to get them clean! Some savings! Now I strictly buy Tide and only have to wash them once.

I use Tide-it's the only thing I've found that gets out stains well.
Purex-ha-doesn't get out anything. My FIL buys it(we share a 2 family house, so share a laundry room) and I have used it when I've run out of Tide.
Now I don't even bother to do wash if that's my only choice.
