:flower: What kind do y'all have? Ours died died this morning and we are trying to see what's good to buy. Any reccomendations? :confused3

Thank you :umbrella:

Hoover Windtunnel- DO NOT buy this vaccum. We've had it for 2 years, it's been in the shop twice, and it CONSTANTLY gets clogged so we have to take the back off to unclog it. I WILL get a DYSON next time.

I've heard that there have been a lot of workmanship issues with Dyson. While they work well, they're not very durable.

Love, love, love my Dyson.

I also have a Hoover Windtunnel and have had the belts replaced a few times. It's a pain to empty, and it has that nasty vacuum "smell."

Best Buy replaced my Windtunnel 4 times with the extended Warantee. I now have the Dyson Animal and absolutely love it. It's the best vacumn I have ever owned!

I inherited my MIL's Rainbow!!! It's awesome! It runs the air through water inside the vac so the dust doesn't come out and get all over! My MIL's carpet smelled so clean you could lay with your nose in it! I don't have a lot of carpet but I think the same about mine now! I love, love, love it! And the used ones are as good as the new!

I have a Rainbow and I love it!! while they are pricey they are wonderful.. Cant ask for a better vacuum..

I love my Dyson...
Funny thing is a few years ago I asked about her her on the DIS Community board.
Everyone was saying, "What is a Dyson?"
I had to post on the UK board to get a response!
But I bought it... and I love it!

We have the Dyson Animal and I cannot imagine not buying another to replace it if this one was to go. We bought it the first weekend that it was released in the US as a secondary vacuum so we didn't have to carry the windtunnel upstairs and down. Needless to say, the windtunnel has been retired and we carry the Dyson up and down stairs.

I have to agree about the Windtunnel, stay away from that one. I have heard nothing but good about the Dyson's, however, they are very expensive. I have a mid-range ($200) Kenmore and I am very satisfied with it. I have had it for about 4 years now and have no complaints.

An Oreck...XL I think. I like it very much and have had good luck with it. It cost about $300 and is very light and easy to carry upstairs.

This was definately true with the original Dysons. I have to admit though, that vacuum sucks like you won't believe, I've never seen anything like it. When we first got it I actually had to call the company because I couldn't move it over the carpet - it sucked too much. They had me remove one of the gaskets to lessen the suction and it works wonders! AND - they have faithfully replaced the two parts that broke with better/upgraded parts and did admit (without being asked!) that they had problems with those parts on the original machines. I love an honest company that stands behind their product!!!

I agree completely! We had one for a couple years, and it was great to start with, but that lasted only a couple months.

Now we have a Kirby, and I really like it.

I think mine is a Eureka. It was 30 bucks and fit the bill for what I needed on industrial carpet in a 800 sq ft, pet-free (minus our trusty Beta), kid-free apartment.

Once I graduate grad school and get a real job... making real money... and then end up moving into a real house and get a real pet... oh how I will get a Dyson... and it will be a sweet sweet day.
