I thought it was a great idea to be able to rent a stroller in the parks for DS4. Then someone brought up the problem of having to maybe carry him out of the park from the stroller rental place. DS is 47" tall and 57 lbs. and is like carrying a 100 lb. bag of potatoes when he is asleep! So, I was thinking about buying an umbrella stroller before we go but umbrella strollers only hold up to 30 lbs. Is there a stroller that is "economical" and as easily portable but have a higher weight limit? I was planning on even leaving it at the hotel after our trip because DS would NEVER get into a stroller here at home.

Hi there
Checkout the thread we have here the perfect Disney bag and stroller. several of us have older kids with strollers. I just got and used the maclaren volo with accessory kit & free shipping ($103) it says it holds up to 55 pounds but my friend uses it for her 6year old at 67 pound and it works great. My DD is 46inches and 51 pounds. and it was great!

Someone here also said that the weight limits for strollers are posted per US Law and they only reflect what weight the stroller was tested for. Weight limits are vital for car seats, but you can definitely break the rules with strollers. (I would try it out with your ds first of course to make sure it still seems sturdy enough, though!)

HTH,
Cheryl

I second that trying it out advice. With my DD she was too wide to go for the cheaper umbrella(she is normal weight and height for 5) but she fit comfortably in the volo. The big thing with her is thatthis was the only one that her knees did not sit up as high as her head. she is very long legged. Good luck!

Oh. P.S. someone else here also had very good luck with the Silver Cross Mini or micro. It seems the same as the volo but with the accessories already.

Thanks for the info. I'll take DS with me to the store when I go looking so he can take it for a "test drive". More than likely he won't even use it that much during the day but like I said, I hate the thought of having to carry him out of the parks to the buses!

Daisylove-you got the volo for a great price! I think its gone up $30 where you bought it. I recommended it to a friend but the price went up before she bought it. Now she's checking out consignment stores.

Wow. I am glad I took the plunge when I did. It really was perfect for our quick trip.

They have 4 different colors of the Maclaren Volo for under $80.00 at strollers4less.com, with free shipping!!! That's where we bought ours and we are very happy with the Volo. The best pushing lightweight stroller we have ever owned!!! Good Luck!:wave2:

We also love our MacLaren Volo. We used it without the accessory pack for our 3 year old back in February, and it was fabulous. Easy to fold & carry, and it weighs 8 pounds!

We just bought the accessory pack for our trip next week so that we could get the sun shade and the rain cover.
