Last time we went to FLA I purchased traveler checks. These were a total pain in the neck to deal with and I don't think I want to do it again. Some places would not take them, DH had to sign too, etc. So does anyone have any good ideas (out side of taking a wad of cash) (I am planning cash for daily mousekeeping service). Have a good day!!!!!!!

You can get travelers cheques with 2 signers. Either of you can use them and you do not have to be together to use them.

Disney Dolalrs are great too but you do not have the added insurance to replace them if lost like you do travelers cheques.

How about the pre-paid American Express travelers check card? Same benifits as travelers checks, reloadable by phone .

Disney dollars or charge card.

I usually use my Visa Disney card for all our purchase. You just need to be careful you dont overspend. I have a savings account for vacation. Before we leave i know how much we have to spend. I bring a log, each nite I subtract what I charged., these way i'm aware how much money i have left in my vacation fund. I try to treat my charge card like i was writing a check (have to have the money in the bank to spend it).

Since I already have the money in the bank when the charge bill comes in I just pay it off. Not only am I NOT carry around alot of cash but i'm also earning disney awards to use on my next trip.

We always take a small amount of cash and everything else gets put on debit. Travels checks seem to be a little outdated, I know there are some places that flat out refuse to accept them and then at the places that do accept them it seems to be a hassle.

If you are staying on Disney property, the very easiest thing is to use your room key card to charge purchases to your room. You give the resort your CC info when you check in (or you can use cash or a check to back the card) and then you just give the CMs your key card when purchasing anything on property.

There are different spending limits, depending on the level resort you are staying at- if you hit your limit, you just need to go to your resort customer svc desk and sign off on the amt- then they start a new $$ allotment. When you check out, you will be presented with an itemized list of everything you charged. You can also get a printout of your charges at any time during your stay.

+1

I was a little uncomfortable with the thought of carrying cash, debit cards or credit cards with me so I grabbed one of these before our last trip. Worked perfectly!

Disney has a debit card that you can purchase at the Disney Store or at the resort.

I pick the amount you want applied to the card and can reload it during your trip. The card can be used all over WDW.

If you are a AAA member, I would suggest going to AAA and getting Visa Travel Money Cards. It's basically a Visa Debit Card, except that it's not actually linked to your checking account. You put however much money you want on the card(s) (you can have more than one card linked to the account - one for you and one for DH) and purchases are debited off that amount. Like Travelers Checks, the card is insured, so if lost or stolen the money would be replaced within 24 hours and it's accepted anywhere Visa is, which is pretty much everywhere at Disney World (except for a ice cream carts, etc in the parks).

Honestly, I just use my debit card and/or cash. Taking out cash at the ATMs there are brutal because they charge phenominal fees (and so does my bank, when I take out money at a diff. location)...so the card works best. :)

We take some cash ($300) for emergencies or for offsite things like snacks, tolls, gas, food at the airport etc....

We also take some Disney Dollars just cause their fun. We use them for small snacks or just to put on our room.

We mostly charge back to the room though for most purchases/expenses. Then we pay everything off when we get home with our Vacation Savings.

Oh and we pre-fill our mousekeeping envelopes as well.

I do bring my debit card 'just in case' but would never use it for my resort charges or my rental card as I wouldn't want them to hold any amounts or screw with my checking account!! I've heard SO many horror stories of double charges and holding large amounts and it taking forever to fix the problem.

We use our debit card. Comes straight out of the checking account. We do take a small amount (couple hundred) in cash for tips and small purchases like that, but mostly use the debit card.

Can someone give me an idea of what the spending limits on the room key are? Just a ballpark... We are staying at Fort Wilderness and I like the idea of this option if it's a high enough limit. Debit card is out for me as my bank has a $300 a day limit for all charges. Otherwise I will use my CC for everything.

$1,500 deluxe, $1,000 moderate and $500 value. Your credit card will not be charged until you reach that limit or get to your last day. When you reach that limit, the resort will charge your card and start you over at the same limit.

Thanks. What is the campground considered though? Value?

Thanks,

I also love using my debit card and I was wondering if small places take debit cards? Like the little ice cream stands that are around....do they accept debit cards or only cash?
