What kind of shoes to wear in August?

My family will be going to US/IOA in August. My feet get really hot in tennis shoes, I was thinking maybe a very comfortable pair of sandals??? What do you recommend?

I'm subscribing since I'm having the same dilemma. I love my conmfy sneakers but they are hot and heavy. I don't think I like the idea of sitting on my flip flops everytime either. And I hate the thought of buying sandals and having my feer hurt from them being new

My favorite sandals are Tevas. I buy the ones with adjustable straps, which makes them even more comfortable, & they dry pretty quickly. I've never been a fan of flip flops though. I can't stand the thong in between my toes. I suppose it depends on what type of sandal you prefer. FYI, my Tevas have lasted for years.

I like to wear my crocs when it's hot. I have 2 pairs of the thong type (Athens and ???)and they are so comfortable. The only problem is DD and The Hulk - I just take them off and hold on to them.

We always travel to the parks in the summer, and I can't take wearing my sneakers the whole time. I'm a sandal freak and have 100 pairs, but only my crocs are comfortable in the heat with all that walking. I also like that you can get them wet on rides and they don't get ruined or feel soggy.

No, I can't stand flip flops either, I hate the strap between my toes too. I've heard of Tevas, but I don't know where to get them? And in fear of sounding stupid, I hate to say I've never heard of crocs. :confused3

Available at Famous Footwear, Sears, Wal Mart, Target, Payless (possibly-cant remember) Journeys

tough not to find them.

You can find Tevas at most Sporting Goods stores, & shoe stores in the malls. If you'd rather order online, Google Teva Sandals & you'll find lots of stores to choose from. FYI, the pic above is of Crocs.

OKay, I have seen the crocs , I really don't like the looks of them so I've never paid much attention to them. BUT if they are comfortable and cool, I might definitely look into buying a pair. But with them being made of plastic I've always thought my feet would sweat in them, is this not the case?

Your feet don't sweat at all - it's amazing! And they never have that lovely plastic shoe in the summer smell. You can get them in styles that don't go between your toes too; just do a search online for crocs.

This summer I'm going to try that body glide stuff, you put it on your feet and it keeps the cool and prevents rubbing and blisters. So many people say it's helped them, you can wear it with or without socks.

ITA. I have at least 4 pairs of Tevas. Love 'em!

So just to make sure I am straight the only 2 rides that wearing sandals on would be a problem where you have to remove them would be DD and Hulk?

Which rides should you expect to get wet on Popeye and Dudley? and...?

I can't think of any other rides where I have to take my shoes off.

Sometimes you get your shoes wet on Jurrasic Park - depending on where you are sitting and how many people are in the boat with you.

It also rains a lot in the summer. I have gotten soaked sneakers trying to get around in the rain.

Where do you get body glide? Sounds like it would definitely help.

Dicks sporting goods carries body glide. We are leaving next week and are going to try it out. I still havnt decided what to wear. I have a pair of Crocs, but not sure if I want to wear them.

Sports Authority and Great eastern is where we get it.

As for shoes I have two favorites!

I went to Sports Authority yesterday to see if they had it and they had never heard of it, but I did find it at Dicks Sporting Goods also.

I am planning on wearing my croc flip flops when I go next week. Just bought DD a pair of Mary Jane Crocs to wear. I love the fact that they are totally waterproof. Oh, and DH decided on crocs as well. he is picky about shoes and thinks these are very comfortable. Oh, and they really don't cause your feet to sweat!
