hi all just wondering what kind of shoes for a 4 year old u would recommend? last time we were down there I bought my then 3 year old some crocs -- and they just didn't work out -- he fell down several times and got some bad "boo-boo's" -- not fun on vaca :( what kind do u buy for your kids? thanks!

Their regular sneakers. I'm not comfortable with having them do lots of walking in shoes that aren't well broken in.

My kids wear crocs exclusively, but it's what they wear for everyday in the summer so they are completely used to them. Whatever he wears, it should be what he's most comfortable wearing before he goes. Sneakers are fine, but not very comfortable if/when they get wet. If Keens are an option, I know lots of people like those (my kids find them too heavy). Just let him try a few things now and see what works best. I wouldn't rule out crocs though. See if he wears them better this year. It might surprise him (and you) how convenient/comfortable they can be once he gets used to them.

My son (10) would wear his Crocs year round if I let him. I did bring some Teva hiking sandals with us as well, but he pretty much stuck to his Crocs. My daughter wore a combination of plain $2 flip flops, hiking sandals and Crocs. She was most comfortable in the flip flops. Both really only wanted to wear shoes that they wear at home and are comfortable in.

Surprisingly neither of them complained about their feet hurting, while DH and I were in horrible pain...

We've worn just about everything! I think that the crocs are good but we use the mary jane styles ones, which I think stay put a bit better than the mule style crocs. We have also had a lot of luck with merrells.

My daughter has a pair of these that she really likes too. Might be a good compromise.

My youngest trips in crocs too. I usually bring two pairs of shoes in case they get wet. This time we are going to bring their sneakers and keens. They love keens. Those are good for rainy days or water rides.

My 3 year old tends to fall/trip more in any shoe that has a very firm sole. So, we look for sneakers and aquatic sandals with more flexible soles. Doesn't have to be name-brand.

Another vote for Teva sandals, DD6 loves them and would wear them in winter with socks if I let her. She lives in them all spring, summer, and early fall.

We live in our Keens while at Disney! They are comfortable, cool and dry fast when they get wet.

We have 7 years in a row with our Keens and no complaints here!

My son wears his everyday sneakers.

For shorter days I may let him wear crocs (if he choses to) but I usually make him wear socks with them (fashion faux pas or not) unless he's actually getting wet.

Both of my girls will wear their Keen sandals this trip. I'm also bringing their regular sneakers in case there are any cold days in November. My oldest has always worn her Keens in the parks and never had issues.

My DS13 wears crocs everyday so vacation is no different. He does always wear socks also but the really short no show kind so they don't show. DS4 wears crocs or once of his collection of multi colored converse chucks. I wear either crocs or running shoes not that i'm a kid anymore.

My kids mostly wore their Keens, wore them for a couple months leading up to the trip, so broken in nicely. Each had a pair of sneakers to switch it up. Pretty much what me and DH wore, too.

Another vote for daily sneakers. She used to wear the Disney crocs too, but last trip she got a blister be side she walks now instead of stroller.

Keens! I do take their regular sneakers as well and sometimes they wear them at night if no rain is in the forecast just to switch it up but mostly it is their Keens. And flops to the pool. I would never be comfortable with kids wearing shoes that are not closed toe in the parks.

My kids wore their regular sneakers the entire time. There is just so much walking. I always packed their Crocs (the Mary Jane style) just in case but we never need them.

Crocs. Picked them up on zulily.com I think, but you can prefer them on the croc site.

Thanks!! Did you have any issues with them slipping off at all or did they hold up like a pair of Velcro sneakers?
