What kind of luggage do You use?

In planning our trip to Disney this April 10th-17th, I started pre-packing some summerish clothes in our suitcases...until I noticed my much loved, super special luggage has started to umm..crack around the sides and is actually pretty floppy. I don't think it'll make it with usually airline handling...:sad1:

What type of luggage do you use? I am thinking about a set by Heys, I found some really nice prices on eBay. Has anyone ever used this luggage? any other brands that are worth the investment?:confused3

We have rolling duffels. They actually have telescopic handles and will sit upright. Got them on clearance from Kohls.

In true Disney fanatic style we have Disney luggage. :goodvibes They were on super-duper clearance from the Disney Store. We have two large suitcases and two carry-ons (both have handles & wheels) as well as two shoulder bags. The "big" kids have rolling duffels with the telescopic handles. DS3 is now old enough for his own - I guess it's time to start hunting!

Good luck with your choices!

I use a nike duffle bag and a ver bradley duffle. I've always been a fan of duffle bags over suitcases.

I got sick of replacing luggage after the airlines destroyed it, especially after they destroyed an expensive Delsey suitcase the very first time I used it. I bought 2 of the eBags brand Mother Lode Jr. duffels. So far, they've been through baggage handling a total of 22 times, and they still look brand new. If I ever need more luggage (i.e. when the airlines eventually destroy my Samsonite suitcases), I would definitely buy this brand again. They have a lifetime warranty, but considering how well they're made, I doubt I'll ever have to use it.

This is the one that I have, from the eBags eTech collection. There is a newer TLS collection of these too, but I'm not sure what the difference is except the price. eBags.com has really informative videos that shows the different features of these bags. If you decide to buy, they almost always have a 10% or 15% coupon you can find by googling for it.

DD and I use the LL Bean Rolling Duffels in large. My old Samsonite weighed almost 22 pounds, the duffel is about 9. With the weight limits and luggage fees they have worked out great. Just you have to be organized when packing or you end up with a big pile of clothes in it. I bought packing cubes and also use my own budget packing cubes (I save zippered packages & pouches that sheet sets come in, etc).

Thanks for all the great suggestions!

I do like the idea of the rolling duffle. It seems to have a lot of room and pretty durable. I am comparing on eBay, eBags and overstock.

I do like the look of the hard-side luggage, so we purchased a Heys (hard side luggage) carry-on for my son and we'll see how it holds up.

we have ll bean rolling duffles for the kdis too. They are great and very sturdy (have about 25 or so round trips including several transatlantic flights and cruises--who may be harder on the luggage than the airlines:lmao: and trips to sumemr camp:scared1:).
They hold a ton and can squishflat to store under the bed or in the back of the closet when travelling.
DH and I have a soft sided samsonite set with one two rolling bags (larger and smaller) laptop bag and garment bag that can all attach to together for easy rolling. It has held up nicely as well and looks more professional when he travels for work than the duffles would.

Just bought 3 Heys Ecos Orbis Spinner 30" suitcases yesterday at Sears for 55% off! They are very lightweight, designed in Canada and a cool red/black colour.

We are replacing 2 Swiss Army sets we got at Costco approx. 6 years ago. No more luggage sets for us as the varied sizes don't work well for us.

Tiger :)

We bought Tommy hilfigure suitcases a few years ago and they are awesome, I love them.
They were on sale at Sears 2 years ago, no to heavy, but sturdy, and large enough I pack 1 adult and 1 child in each one.

I fly often for work. I use Tumi. It wears like iron.

Hi -

we always buy the ugliest, cheapest ones in the oddest colours - we can always pick ours out at a distance, and never have problems with it being taken ( or stolen!) by mistake. Don't buy plain black or you will be picking up every other case to check it is yours....

:lmao:Sorry - I read that totally wrongly - you sounded like a very organised serial killer....

That's why I really like the Heys..they come in bright colors and patterns...pink, lime green, leopard, "skull" print...in fact that's what my son is getting.

I think for my husband and I, we will be sharing a rolling dufflebag (now to find the right one!). We have laundry in the room so we will be packing light for our week :)

again, thanks for all of your help!

I like using large duffel bags they hold more and I just found a Duffel bag on QVC very close to this bag and it is half the price and it is made by samsonite.

Yeah, I had another one almost exactly like it a few years ago, but it was made by Atlantic. It busted apart at the seams on the very first trip we took it on. From now on, I will only buy eBags branded luggage. They should really give me a commission, because I recommend their products constantly. :lmao:

A couple of days ago, eBags had 20% off plus there was 20% Bing cash back. I was really tempted to order a couple of more Mother Lode duffels, but I really don't need them. It was tempting given the price though.

I have an LLBean rolling duffle bag in bright yellow. :cool2: It's not attractive, but it makes it really easy to find my bag at the airport.

we brought pretty much regular luggage last fall but for this fall we just purchased some of the High Sierra rolling upright duffles so we can collapse them and have more space in our room. They seem to get good reviews and Kohls had them discounted.

Walmart bags an the saddle bags on harley...yep 3 changes of clothes total including the ones we wearing our rain gear an tolietries along with meds an we good to go......NO we do not have other stuff shipped down either..

Winter months in a cage (car) we have huge rolling duffle bags I bought 10 yrs ago at Goodwill they don't all match but hey I know whos is is whos very easily they was in excellent shape when bought still in excellent shape an going strong.
