kids dont need any id :wave2:

Actually I thought they DO need ID if they are 10 or over. At that age Disney classifies them as adults dont they? Therefore wouldnt they have to do the biometric scanners? If that is right then they may need ID to show the CM. But maybe the CM just takes the parents word as to who the child is.

That being said, I already went to the license branch and got DD10 an ID card made. :) She said it was really cool and she keeps it in her purses wallet. It may come in handy, then again, she may never use it. But it only cost $6, so oh well. :)

she was asking for the airlines not disney. :wave2:

I have always brought my DD birth certificate, but never have had to show it. I think they should check, who's to say she's mine????

I, also, liked the idea of the photo IDs available at the local DMV office. They are "official" and require you to bring proof of identity, such as the kids birth certificates, before DMV will issue them. This way, in many cases you can leave the birth certificates home and not have to worry about losing or damaging them. The IDs are easy to carry, made of the same plastic material as drivers licenses, and have the added benefit over the birth certificates of having a photo.

I had my sister get the IDs for my niece and nephew when we took them to WDW with us - they were 8 and 12 the first time and 10 and 14 the next. Our niece had thinned out and sprouted up between the two trips so we did have her picture redone at no charge. Our nephew used the same ID for the second trip. We also made color copies of the IDs for the kids to carry in their waist packs so that if the kids ever got separated from us, they would have their IDs to show CMs, if necessary (we kept the originals with our travel documents in case a waist pack got lost).

On a trip a few years ago we made sure my ,15 yr old at the time , sis in law had a state id. At the time she was quite tall and looked like she was 18...

We travelled as a group on same ticket purchase and we all had different last names (or variations) - plus documentation from her mom (as custodial parent) that it was ok for her to travel with us.

It was peace of mind and security was a breeze with the ID.

I know we were stopped at one airport and the agent scrutinized our boys etickets- he quietly talked to each one and asked their names and who we were.

Thanks for the replies I think I will get them a state ID

Here in CT, some of our schools/childcare centers hire a service called "Ident-a-Kids" once a year. It is a service that will take your child's photo (like a license type), verify weight and height, hair and eye color and take a digital thumbprint. Then, they produce a laminated identification card containing all of the above information, as well as parents' names and address, along with "What to Do If Your Child Is Missing" details. We have these made for all of our     each year ($10 for 4 cards each) and keep them with us at all times. My son takes one hidden in his school backpack as well. Fortunately, we have never had to use the cards! Not sure if this agency is available outside of CT, but website is "www.ident-a-kid.com" should anyone be interested. :)

If you child is tall for there age, like me DD you might want to take a birthcertificate so she will be charged the kid rate instead of the adult rate.

My daughter is 9 but tall like a 11-12 year old.
