What kind of computer do you have and do you like it?

Got a new camera and printer for Christmas. Well, as you can expect, now I want to make DVD from the pictures I take. I also want to put music to the pictures (like a slide show). DH wants to give our old computer to my DS.


To be able to do this, I am going to need a new computer. What kind do you have and do you like it? How long have you had it.

We have a HP desktop which does not have a DVD burner but just a CD burner. I thought you could put pictures on a CD, but have not done that yet. We have had this for around 2 years and it still is big enough for us with its memory it came with and the speed is fine. It is a P4 with a 1.8 Ghz, 80 gb hardrive with 512 mg memory.

We have a Toshiba notebook and just love it. We got it in March and it has a DVD burner on it. We plan on transferring our digital camcorder video onto DVD, but have not had time to do it yet. This notebook is very nice. It has P4 processor with 2.4 Ghz, 60 gb harddrive and 512 mg memory.

Dell is having good deals right now. My MIL got one for Christmas which is just great. My BIL got a great deal through is work which was a P4 2.4 Ghz, 40 gb hardrive with 256 memory, a DVD drive and a CD burner with an all in one printer for $698. This also included a 3 year warrantee and free shipping. I can't find that great of deal through their web site, but they do have great offers periodically.

I love my Gateway Laptop, I don't care for the Dell PC.
The funny thing is the laptop is only a month newer then the PC, but its so much faster. I'm not sure why the Dell is so slow but it sure is.

I have a Gateway at work that I love and a Dell at home that ALL of us hate. Next computer at home with be a Gateway. The Dell is soooo slow and it is configured the same as my Gateway. Go figure!

DH has a Sony Vaio desktop and I have a Sony Vaio notebook. We have had the desktop longer and had only one problem, but since I had the extended warranty with Best Buy they worked on it for free! Turned out the graphics card was doing something funky. Other than that, it is a wonderful computer.

I have had my notebook for a few months, and have had no problems at all.

I do not remember all the specs, I do know both are Pentium 4 processors.

I'm so glad I'm not the only person that don't like the Dell.. My DH ( that knows nothing about pc's) keeps telling me we have too much on the computer, but we don't. and I confrig, I defrag what ever it's called, clean up the cookies and history and it's still SLOW

I have a Dell PC at home and a laptop for college. The PC I'm not a fan of, considering my younger brother and sister download a million things and god knows what else when I'm gone for months. The thing is sooooo slow, but it's also been virus and spyware infested. (Thank you siblings! ). I fix it whenever I come home, but they manage to mess it up in the months between.

My laptop is wondeful, I love it. Fast, portable, and I love my wireless modem and network at home. I haven't had a problem with the laptop, but I take pretty good care of it. Virus protection (you get alot of those on the school network) and spyware scans, etc.

I have a Gateway and Love it.My DBIL and DSIL have a Dell and they dont like it at all.When they are here he stays on the computer all the time.I got my Gateway in 2002 for Christmas and they got theres in 2003 and he says mine is alot faster.

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite notebook a few months ago. I LOVE it!

It has a 17 inch screen, 2.4 Ghz something or another, CD burner, DVD player.

When I first went to college 3 years ago my parents got me a Dell. It worked so well but after 3 years of nonstop use, it got really slow and annoying. That's why I decided to get a new computer and I got such a good deal on the laptop that I couldn't pass it up.

We have a Sony Vaio desktop that I love and a Gateway notebook that we also enjoy, although we don't use it as often.

We are also not fans of Dell. Our last computer was a Dell desktop and none of us liked it.

It looks like I am in the minority here, but I LOVE our DELL desktop and am considering buying a DELL laptop.

We had a Gateway and had nothing but problems with it. Just little annoying things that went wrong again and again.... Finally it decided it was not going to turn on anymore.

So we called Dell!

Most of my family has Apples or Dells - except for one 6 month old e-machine that took Best Buy a month to get a new hard drive for.... only to find the hard drive they ordered was DOA.

I adore my Dell Inspiron Laptop--have had it since June and it is like one of the family!

We just got a Dell desktop and it is wicked fast. Don't know why others say they are slow. Maybe they did not get enough RAM?

Dell has awesome deals--we got a $150 rebate, memory upgrade and free shipping on both orders. Plus we went through MyPoints.

Three of my colleagues also got Dell Inspiron Laptops and they are all thrilled with them. One of them is a web designer and his Dell is plenty fast.

We love our Dell desktop too! It is almost 4 years old. We used to have a Gateway which was ok. We are in the market for a new Dell also. Ours has been wonderful. We plan to get a new one in the next couple months. I like how you can pick out exactly what you want for each feature and even upgrade whatever you wish. The Gateway site does not seem as friendly to this, unless I am doing something wrong. We are shopping around, but DH uses Dell at work now and has a Dell PDA and is very happy too.

I also have a Dell at home and I love it. I have never had one problem with it (probably shouldn't say that out loud.. ) and have had it about a year now. It is more than fast enough for anything I use it for and the price when I bought it was incredible. I built similar PCs at the time via the web with both Dell and Gateway and the Gateway was a couple hundred dollars more. My father has had a number of Gateways and loves them, but the one he has now (which cost a fortune) seems to have some issues on occasion. I know he has been on the phone with Gateway tech support a lot recently and according to him it takes quite a while to get through to someone who is actually technical enough to solve the issues he has had.

DH has a Mac G5 with a cimema display monitor.

We can do almost anything with it. Make movies, prints, etc. We love it. We hook our digital camera or digital video camera to it and away we go. He can transfer VHS to DVD, burn DVD's, watch movies on it, edit our home movies and make everything professional quality. We now watch movies on it all the time as it displays better than our TV.

We just LOVE it.

I have had my Dell for three years now and for the most part I like it. It can get slow on me tho. Middle DS also has a Dell that he likes and youngest DS just bought an HP which he loves.

I have a HP computer which is 3 years old and i love it. It's easy to upgrade. It has a AMD processor , CRW, DVD-Rom and 512 memory. It only came with 128 ram but i upgrade. I adding a PCI card soon so i can but in a DVD-RW and more stuff to my computer.

I beleive that AMD processor is better in Pentuim 4 Processor.
