What kind of backback to get for Disney?

We have a nice Columbia backpack, but for our use, its not practical. Its really tall, but not really wide. Makes it hard to find anything, cuz you have to constantly dig thru everything else. Does anyone have a good backpack, they could post what kind, or a link or something? We need, suntan lotion, snacks, change of clothes for 4 and 1.5 yr old, diapers, wipes, sweater for kids, camera, video camera and I'm sure more, but I want to be able to get at everything easily. Thanks!

Personally, I think we have the perfect Disney backpack and we got it at Old Navy. Whether they have them anymore, I don't know BUT it has 2 mesh pockets on either side for sippy cups or water/soda bottles. A cell phone holder that straps to one of the backpack straps and can hold either a cell phone or our 2-way radio. It has elastic lacing on the front that we can clip our sunscreen to. A small padded front pocket to stick sunglasses & camera. Then 2 open areas for change of clothes, diapers, wipes, snacks, etc. I usually keep clothes, diapers, wipes in one section and snacks in another. It is adjustable and has great padded straps.

Check out Old Navy since they are probably getting school backpacks in now. I love it.

I've read here on the board that many prefer and see through backpack. i don't remember where you can get them......but it sounds like a good idea.

We have a clear one that we got at WalMart for $5. The security screeners love it--they just look at it and send us on through. They always say it is their favorite color :rotfl2:

We use a backpack called "Baby Sherpa." It's well made, very organized and extremely comfortable to wear. Check them out at babysherpa . com or on ebags . com. They both have great pictures of the bag. There's also a smaller version called the "Shorthaul" but we have the bigger, original version. We've had it for a year and use it everytime we go to Disneyland. We LOVE it!

I second the notion to check out eBags! Get to it through the MouseSavers.Com link, your can often get free shipping or a nice discount(with a code) that way.

As I said in another thread, we love our Old Navy clear vinyl backpack and the security screeners love it, too. Unfortunately, Old Navy discontinued them, but last time I checked there were many see-through bags(mesh or clear vinyl) available elsewhere. SOme school systems require backpacks to be see-through & some sporting events(like Nascar) also require bags/backpacks to be see-through in some way...there should be a good selection right now in stores & on-line with all the back-to-school stuff starting.

agnes!

Try to get one with as few sections and zippers as possible. We learned the hard way. We have a Gap backpack with about 10-12 different zippered sections. We have to open every single section for the security checks. After the first 2-3 days it gets annoying and time consuming. (Not blaming security...blaming myself for getting the stupid thing LOL)

I got my backpack for Disney on Ebay - it's a great canvas/leather one with DVC logos on it - I think I paid about $20 for it - can't wait to use it!!!

I just bought a backpack on ebay as well for our trip...it has a decent size compartment on top and then the bottom half is a little zipper cooler compartment. Does anyone think I will have a problem using it?? I figured we could put a few waters or juices in the cooler.

After learning the hard way, I now take a cheap backpack. On our 1st trip I made the mistake of taking my expensive diaper bag. It was filthy by the time we got home. I bought a Mickey Mouse backpack last year at K-Mart. It was on clearance for $6.00. I now wish I had bought two.

I am now glad that I only paid 56 cents for the backpack I got on ebay...shipping was only $5....so for $5.56 got a brand new pack!
YAYYYYYY

I second the "cheap" back pack idea. I also (if you not getting a clear one) get the ugliest color I can find. Makes it easier to spot , and I figure reduces the chances of someone picking it up.

Someone had recommended to us to get one with a strap which goes around your waist. We did, and what a help. It really kept the stress of our backs while carrying it around :goodvibes

What I found to work the best for my family was to have two bags. I have a see-thru mesh bag I bought for about $5 from Old Navy that had no extra pockets (and that security did love) and I put in all non-valuable items such as diapers, wipes, extra clothes, etc. and placed the bag in the stroller. Then, I had $ and valuabes in a little Mickey fanny pack around my waist. It was much easier to go on the rides with the fanny pack then having to deal with a backpack between you and the seat and I felt more secure about my important items.

I would go to DTD and go to the World of Disney and get one of their backpacks that have the wrap around shoulder strap. Those are a little easier on your back and shoulders as you are carrying the bag. I believe they are somewhere between $15 and $25 for a bag. Hope that helps.

We bring a sling bag. Not as big as a backpack, but big enough to carry what we need and find it easier. :wave2:
