What I've learned about DVC from these message boards!

16. Currently, you can purchase any of the 3 DDP options for 2009 as a DVC member, regardless of whether or not you have purchased tickets. Of course, this can change any time, as can the DDP offer(s).

I e-mailed MS asking about the new CS DP and the response was that 2009 dining plans are not available for DVC yet and was not sure if the new plan would be or not. Has this changed?

The e-mail said to keep checking the members site when information is available it will be there.

As far as I knew, it was for any dining plan, but if they told you that then the CS one must not be available for members. We would be going with the regular DDP, the one we had last month, because we go to a TS restaurant every night for dinner, and we love lots of character meals for the kids at this point. Plus the kids will be 3 and 5 when we go back in 2010, so they will both be child price, which also makes character meals worthwhile because they cost a couple of bucks more than the daily child price for the DDP. Plus we still get a children's CS meal for each of them per day, plus one snack (and they love those Mickey ice creams!). So for us the regular plan works for now. In future years, I don't know. We'll have to wait and see what Disney offers or not to DVC members when the time comes. I am just hoping we can get the DDP in 2010! Because you never know, things could change between now and then. Even if we couldn't, it would never hold us back from purchasing because that is not a reason we are purchasing. We are doing it to save money on trips we would have taken in a deluxe simply for the fact that we could get a queen bed at a deluxe (a must for us, we found out last month at Pop!). DVC allows us the bigger bed (KING bed in a one-bedroom for DH and me!!), plus other extras like larger space, washer/dryer and whirlpool in a one-bedroom. The full kitchen I could take or leave (a refrigerator is a must, however), but it is still a nice bonus for future trips when my sons will probably want a more substantial breakfast in the morning (we do breakfast in the room most mornings). Then I can make some eggs quickly, or some frozen waffles, or pancakes and it would be quick and easy.

22. The people on these boards really are very friendly, kind and patient with all of the crazy questions I have had!! You all here are the greatest!

Thanks for the compliment! She's likes us... She really likes us!!!! Se we are not a cult! lol

Thanks for that surmise, now we can just point people to this thread who needs the quick answers!

ONE MORE SUGGESTION:

I know that you are planning to buy a resale, but for those looking to buy direct from Disney, split your contract up into smaller contracts. For example, if 160 points is the minimum (?), then get two 50 point contracts and one 60 point. Should you decide in the future to sell some points at one resort in order to buy some at another, you will not have to sell your entire contract in order to do so.

except that, from everything i have seen, you can't do this for your first contract if you buy direct. you would have to buy 160 pts in one contract and go from there (although now you can start with 100 pts at AKV...but i still don't think you can break that up further.)

when you buy add-ons, it is a good idea to break them up into smaller units for later resale if needed.

We actually did break up our very first contract. We bought 175 points the first time and broke them into one 100 pt and one 75 pt contracts. (We were looking to get to 100 pt contracts for each of our children so we did not go any smaller that the 100 and 75.) That was a couple of years ago so I do not know if they will still break up the intitial contract or go as small as 50, but be sure to ask and do so if it is allowed.
