What it is about cruising?

Since returning from out May cruise I have been obsessing over going on another cruise. I have checked out all of the other major lines, checked the DCL site repeatedly (for what I don't know), lurked around here, looked at my pictures over and over again. But I can't put my finger on why exactly I want to go back! We had a good time, but I don't know what it is that makes me want to do it again, and again! I can't decide whether to buy Universal tickets today or save the money for a deposit for when the date come available that we ar econsidering! Maybe it is just because cruising is a new thing for us. We tried DCL because we wanted to try something new, instead of our 3-4 DVC trips a year. I don't want to get caught in the cycle of only cruising, but something is drawing us back (when we really want to try Univesal!). What is it? Someone help me!!!!

Your not alone. Our first major vacation was a 4 day Disney World followed by a 4 day Disney cruise. Since that time, our major vacation for the year is almost always another Disney Cruise.

And another funny thing, every time I step on a Disney Ship, I get a funny feeling of being "home".

1991 we did a short cruise (sandiego-catalina island-ensanada) and while i found it o.k. it did not realy "sell" me on cruising. since 1999 we have done 2 disney cruises (the 4 and 7 day) and will be doing the 7 day in november. we also used our dvc points to do an alaskan cruise last year.

for us a disney cruise is the most relaxing vacation ever-the activities for our kids are as enjoyable as any time they spend at a theme park (without them getting exhausted and cranky at the end of each day), the adult facilities are excellent and afford my husband the extreemly rare luxury of time doing something together (without the kids). the entire disney cruise is structured in such a way as to not make you feel like you have to rush around and "do everything" (which we always feel like when we do theme parks or other vacations), there is adult time, kid time and family time.

also, for us-the biggest factor in returning to a disney cruise is the lack of stress. we have experienced their commanding ability to provide and ensure that every want or need is met; the luggage is in the stateroom when they say it will be, events occur on time, meals are outstanding and served in a manner that is pleasing to both the children and the parents, staterooms are always clean and ready no matter what time of the day you may return. we have never had a problem with disney transportation or the transportation of our luggage-if they say you will be at the airport by a certain hour you can be assured of it-and your luggage will be there as well (something that is a problem with alot of the other cruiselines).

we too have thought of doing universal and probably will at some point-but while our kids are still young enough to enjoy spending time with us we prefer a vacation that facilitates and encourages that-all of which a disney cruise offers.

I am right there with you. We are also vacation club members and go to Disney 3 to 4 times a year. This past April we decided to try the cruise. My sister and her husband went with me,my DH,DD13, and DD6. I can't begin to tell you how obsessed we have become about DCL. My sister and I watched The Magic sail every Saturday on the webcam until in repositioned to California. I am on the computer every day trying to decide if we should go in the fall this year. We already rebooked for next April. I am completely obsessed!!! Do you think they pipe in music at night that brian washes us that makes us so crazy?

You are not alone, definately not alone. Although hubby says..we have to take a different vacation..since Disney basically keeps the same ports and we don't want to do them over and over again.

Universal is an excellent trip..definately give it a shot!

We too, have the Disney Cruise bug! It only took once to get us hooked, and I didn't even really want to go on that first cruise, since I am not especially fond of boats. After our first 4 night cruise/ 1st Disney World trip, we couldn't wait to go back on a cruise again. Even our kids (then 8, 4) said they liked the cruise more than Disney World. We just went on our second cruise (7 night Western) and had another great time, and booked our third cruise while on board.

Like another poster said, I have that feeling of being at "home" while on DCL, and I've only sailed with them twice. It is just truly the most magical, relaxing vacation we have ever taken. It certaintly isn't difficult to become additcted!

Me, too...me, too! As I told a friend, might as well stick a needle in my arm, I'm that addicted. I check the boards, not everyday, but 3-4 times a day...don't know what I'm looking for. We only went once but it's a feeling that you just can't explain. I look at my pictures and get weepy. We've traveled a lot but this was by far the best vacation ever. I've never been anywhere before where they just make you feel so special. As a wife and mother, I'm a giver and not one to pamper myself but I felt so pampered and I didn't even set foot in the spa! I think that subliminal message theory has some truth to it! I just want to cruise again and don't even discuss another cruise line with me. I know what Disney offers. Why would I ever want to take the chance on something that might be less? Unfortunately, with our eldest just starting college, it must be put on the back burner....but....I'll be back!!!

:earsboy: Disney cruises are truly "magical". My DH and Iwent on our first cruise for our honeymoon (non Disney). It was OK.

When our daughter was four, we took our first Disney 4 day cruise. Our family felt it went too fast. We have done a total of 6 cruises since then. We are totally hooked. Every cruise has been awesome. New Years Cruising is unbelievable. The Easter cruise was great too.

We are now doing the Repo cruise. We work extremely hard and our Disney vacations give us the badly needed "recharge" of pixie dust to get us through the year. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
