What Is Your 'Plan B' for Dinner?

I'm sure all of us have had one of 'those' days when we forget to take something out of the freezer, get home really late, or just don't feel like cooking. What are your 'Plan B' options? What I usually do, is make something for DD 4 & DS 18mos, then DH and I just fend for ourselves or order takeout. Here are my fallback dinners for the kids:

Grilled Cheese with or without soup
Pasta with butter and Parmesan Cheese (or jarred sauce...always on hand)
Pancakes & Sausage

As you can see, my 'Plan B' menu is limited, lol. I would love some suggestions!

Plan B is always pasta and 'jar' sauce. I also have been keeping a bag of frozen turkey meatballs in the freezer to throw in the sauce if we have to go to Plan B. :thumbsup2

My plan B is some of the bagged frozen dinner. It takes just 15 minutes to cook. I keep a couple of them in the freezer. I usually cook every night but once in a while we get held up and we get home late so I just grab one of those dinners and 15 minutes later we are having a hot dinner.

I see I'm not alone in my Plan B dinner.

Mine is spaghetti with garlic bread. :lmao:

Angel Hair pasta with pesto sauce and shrimp

english muffin pizza's

salad night

stir fry

Frozen DiGiorno pizza. The kid likes them. I usually just have salad and a few snitched toppings.

We're supposed to have a Plan B? I can barely figure out what Plan A will be. :headache:

Omelets, French toast, Waffles - breakfast for dinner.
Meatball Subs. I usually keep frozen meatballs and the pilsbury french bread in the fridge. Add a little cheese.
Spaghetti
Grilled Cheese
Macaroni and cheese
Salad

Pasta is always on hand with a jar of Prego. Burrito night is an easy option. I try to always have tortillas, a can of refried beans and some frozen ground turkey hanging around.

Spaghetti is always Plan B around here but there isn't a jarred sauce on the planet that I can eat due to my allergies so I always have to make a quick batch of homemade sauce (super easy and yummy!).

Our other option is "fend for yourself" night. The older girls usually have Ramen or one of the pasta in a bowl microwave dishes and DH and I will do cereal with DS3.

Breakfast
Pasta w/ jarred alfredo sauce and bacon bits - bagged salad

For the longest I didn't really have a plan B and when an off night would come up we would end up eating out or picking up pizza. It seems like this would end up happening about one night a week; so finally I started keeping some kind of frozen meal in the freezer- like frozen pizza or salsbury steak that I could make some mac and cheese real quick with...... This works well for us and it saves money over having to eat out when dinner just isn't working. Also- there has been a few times I just cooked a box of mac and cheese for dinner when I needed to just have something quick:).

I am a planner when it comes to meals. Barring some kind of emergency or disaster, my planned meals for the week get made.

Occasionally something gets burned or ruined somehow, and then it's Little Caesars (just down the road, $5 for a large pizza).

I always have a meal plan, but should we get to a day when nothing on the meal plan sounds good, the boys love salami, cheese, ketchup and mustard sandwiches. Add a yogurt and they are happier than a pig eating slop.

DH uses those nights to make something I refuse to make - rice a roni.

And I have angel hair with butter, lemon, crushed red pepper, and shrimp. Super quick and easy..

Plan B is one of the following:

Peanut Butter and Jelly
Frozen Waffles and Sausage
Scrambled Eggs, Toast and Fruit
One of those refrigerated pizzas from walmart

or

Take out

Ramen
Canned soup or ravioli
Mac 'n cheese out of a box
Crackers, cheese and lunch meats
