What is your packing list?

Two things ---- Keep the NSAIDs in the bottle until you cool down post race and have established that your urinary tract is once again functioning. (i.e. you will all of a sudden start to feel like you need to go way too often). DO NOT feel compelled to take them within 2-3 days pre-race.

Most important - especially in hotel room with others trying to sleep. Lay out your clothing the night before. Lay them in the order you will be putting on that way you are pulling everything off the top of the stack. You do not need to pin the number on that night but do locate the 4 safety pins and loop them all together and through one of the holes in the bib.

Coming out and the Tri world I run all running races with my number belt. It's simply an elastic belt with snaps or other quick fastening/locking device that goes around the waist. I have the Fuel Belt version that includes gel loops so that gel packs are near my arm swing at all times. If you purchase a gel looped number belt, do load it with the number of gels you think you will need in the race and go out for a 3-5 mile run. I got a new one last year and thought I had tightened it enough but about 100 feet past the start I felt like my knees were in a lasso. It was the belt falling down. How embarrassing.

Finally, trim you toe nails at least a week pre-race. That will give you time to see if you left too sharp a corner on any of them.

Does your tri belt work with Disney race numbers?
I discovered that the Disney numbers are wider than standard. I also come from tri world and wear a running skirt over my bike shorts. The skirt has built in snaps to hold the race number - it lines up with the top holes in the number . . .except Disney numbers. The are too wide.

Mine is adjustable so I just move the snaps. But, you can always poke a new hole in the bib.

enjoy,
Duane

One other thing that I forgot to do before my last race. Make sure the Garmin memory is clear so it does not get full mid-race. This was realy frustrating, I've learned my lesson.

Lily......yup about 1/2 packed:upsidedow Can't wait to go!!!!! Come on start packing...you know you wanna:thumbsup2

Cewait, I am a little worried about pain meds, I am dealing with heel pain and was hoping I could take a tylonel before the race and during the full 1 about 1/2 way through. Do you think that is OK????? I was told to stay away from ADVIL but that Tylonel will be OK. I won't worry about any after the race so that I don't over do it, but I just wanna get through these 2 races. What is your advise.

Thanks:hug:

The snap version's width can be an issue with Disney bibs. I have just used the holes and let the bib bow out a bit allowing for a little extra slack. Though I now just snap where it makes since. You can just sanp through the Tyvek material and it stays in place.

Hope that make since. Last year I changed to a Fuel belt belt and they have lace lock devices on eleacti strings. Allows for a lot more sizes.

You know I never empty my memory and never have an issue. But it's not a bad thing to do either.

Also, do turn the Garmie on in Orlando the night before the race to allow it time to figure out where it is. Race morning should work but you really do not want the added stress.

Tylenol is not a NSAID so taking it per label directions or doctor recommendations should be fine. If you forget you Tylenol on race morning you should be able to grab one mid race from a Med Tent. They will take your race number and that's OK. They just need to document what you did during the race in case of issues later on.

I had that happen. For some reason Garmin did not overwrite the oldest info and stopped recording. Have no idea why it did this, but I am glad of this reminder.

Can't start packing until after my 20 miler. What EVER will I do during taper madness!

Is it packing time already? :) I'd better make a start at least or I'll be scrambling last minute.

Charles - Great tip on going for a short run with the belt. I did that once during a race too. I didn't bother to readjust my belt/fanny pack before the start and was constantly pushing it around during a race. Not fun.

jbucci - Thanks for the Garmin tip! I don't think I've ever bothered to erase the memory on my watch so I had no idea. Will make sure I do that before January.

I have a bigger list with everything we pack for the week, but thought I'd just put up what I have for race gear. If you want the full list, you can PM me.

Steph,

You two need to talk to Scott about the benefits of a Owner's Locker. Considering all that stuff on your list, you might as well store it at WDW for all the trips you make down there just to race. :rotfl2:

I'll add one often overseen item. A&D diaper rash ointment. For all the miles, there's gonna be chaffing. This stuff works miracles when you have a sore spot. :scared1:

I can't remember seeing this on this year's lists but someone posted in the past that if you're doing the Goofy to pack two pairs of running shoes in case it does rain during the half. I thought that was a very good tip.

Great tip but actually Goofy runners should have two pairs of shoes anyway regardless of rain. It takes at least a day for a shoe to recover from a 13 mile run.

I annually upset my DW as I never pack before the night before. I travel so much that I can pack in my sleep. This year is a little different as we moved from our house of 11 years to a new home. I have misplaced a couple race day items. Not huge expense to replace but, well, 'lucky' items. I have a bad mojo feeling if I cannot find one.

It's kind of like putting your right shoe on first every time.

Hope you found your mojo.

I have decided to bring everything! :lmao: I guess I should live there and it would be different. Maybe DH had the right idea all along. He's the one who wants to move to the area.

I've got some final products to get from my hair dresser tomorrow and should be able to finalize things.
