What is your October car rental rate?

Ressie made on April 19. Alamo, Midsize SUV, Oct. 22 - 29, $208.35. Still hoping to do better with a last minute offer. We have the same vehicle Dec. 3 - 10 at Alamo for $138.46. Quite a difference.

The rates are crazy for October. I called Dollar today and asked for a rate using the Orlando Magicard # from Mousesavers. For 10-1 through 10-7 it will be $156, which is MUCH less than the rates I was getting from National.

Everything is STILL sky high. I finally received a response from Alamo today (I had asked them why the prices are so high for Oct) - they totally didn't even answer the question. They dithered on about reserving...it was pretty lame.

I've found the company offering the lowest rates is Thrifty - and even those rates are high.

I hope the prices drop as we get closer to our travel times... pixiedust:

I booked my rate back in Feb/March and it was over $300. I check frequently and got it down to $259.90 total for 10 days and then it went right back up.

I booked with National Emerald Club, Intermediate size with Emerald Aisle service.

I'm still hoping it will come down some more.

Thrifty seems to be the best right now; however, they are off the airport terminal. You have to take a shuttle to your car from the airport. I got a rate of $189 for a mid-size for 9 days. That price includes all taxes. Not bad at all. I used a Wal-Mart code and saved 10% which is included in my price.
All of the other rental car companies are outrageous for October right now!!

I'm subscribing as I need all the help I can get on finding a good rate for October.

We have a standard SUV reserved with Alamo for 10/28 - 11/7 (10 days) for $288. Res was made a few months ago I think it was using Costco codes.

I have to admit that I would rather pay a higher rate than go offsite to get a car. We did this once, with Hertz, I think, and we voted to never do it again, no matter what the rate. My time is too important to me.

I booked our car rental for October months ago-- we decided to do things a little differently this trip, though. We're arriving (hopefully, don't have flights booked yet) on Friday, October 6 and leaving on October 13. We are staying at the Swan, so we don't qualify for DME. We also don't want to pay for parking every night ;) We've got a midsize SUV rented for the first weekend (pick up Friday, drop off Monday) we are there for $86. We've got a minivan rented for the last night of our trip for $39. So, we'll be without a car for 2 days, but it was cheaper to do it that way than keeping it for the whole week. LOL.

I've not seen any rates as low as we paid last year. I'm hoping for a drop the closer it gets to October!

If you're renting with National, try using this coupon code. I'm still using the Amex contract ID with the 10009689 coupon code. Be sure to print the coupon and present it at the desk.

$183.31 for National Emerald Aisle. This is for 7 nights in early October using the Amex code and the coupon from National that gives me an upgrade and $20 off. So we are getting a full size.

I guess we are stuck with an automatic since I have never seen a rental car with a standard transmission. I will miss my 5 speed stick for that week!

We are flying into Tampa this trip and booked through National's Emerald Isle. I used a Carlton Travel code and got a rate under $60 including taxes for two days. I will be dropping the car off at Disney's Dolphin Resort as we will not need the car for the whole week.

I have a car booked for 2 days at $124 (midsize) through Alamo. I only go with Alamo because as far as I know they are the only company that doesn't place a "considerable" hold against your credit card. So while their rate is a little higher, I am not out $100-300 more as that amount is taken from myh CC until I return the car. Has anyone found anyone besides Alamo who doesn't place a hold?

I haven't started looking yet for October 19 - 23.....you guys all give good places to check out. Sounds like I better get with it, too! :goodvibes
