Aloha,

I know everyone goes back to DL because of the brief happiness you get. But is there a specific time at DL, where you just were in awe or felt like that moment was once in a lifetime?

I have three that I view as an epic experience.

1. Riding California Screamin at dusk.
Sky was purple and orange. We were in the front row, and all the lights were up. My friend and I looked and each other and were both awestruck.

2. WOC.
Watching world of color for this first time. My favorite part is during the UP Scene when for a split second you can here the theme to UP, as the balloons float through screen.

3. Snow.
Another epic experience. We were walking to Story Book Ride and it started snowing, and you could smell ginger bread. It was so epic.

*Nearly made the cut:
Walking through Cars Land at night, when no one is around. Epic!

*Cutest thing I have ever seen:
Watching WOC and two kids around 2 years old (who did not know each other). Cuddled together with a blank it holding hands watching WOC through the rails.

PLEASE SHARE

1. Walking up Main Street for the first time and seeing the castle.

2. Walking towards Cars Land at dawn before the crowds.

3. The tea cups ride - an iconic Disneyland image from my childhood.

4. WOC and Fantasmic. Saw WOC first, blown away by it, then saw Fantasmic later that week. In awe of the imagineers who can come up with that sort of stuff...

Running up Main Street and through the castle during the Tinkerbell Half Marathon. There is nothing like being able to run down Main Street with a crowd cheering you on.

This was pretty epic:

We were waiting on the curb for the Hook and Ladder show when the characters came over and sat down on their way across. The little one had no idea what to do, surrounded by so many! It was totally epic!

I don't know if I would call it "epic", but one of my favorite memories is during my graduation trip (not grad nights, just my family's trip to DLR for my high school graduation). Late at night we went to ToonTown and pretty much were the only people there. We rose Goofy's Coaster and Roger Rabbit over and over again! It was a blast :)

I'm sure my memory has been a bit tainted by the past, but I remember the best parts were really just hearing my mom be so happy about telling me she had pulled my brother and me from school for the day, and that I needed to change into a short sleeved shirt because long sleeves were going to be way too hot for....DISNEYLAND! I remember her there to help me when I was scared to step over water and into the boat on POTC.

I lost my mom when I was 13, she had cancer most all of my childhood on and off. Remembering her so happy and having fun with me and my brother....that's the best. I hope Disney World holds half the magic for me that the Land did when I was a kiddo.

Among my top blissful experiences:

First ride of the trip is always POTC. DH and I share a secret giggle of excitement as we sit down in the boat and whisper to each other, "We're HERE! We're finally HERE!".

The moments we slow down to look at the Christmas lights throughout the park. And especially in Frontierland, when we catch glimpses of the colorful lights as we zip along on BTMRR. I think the lights around Reindeer Roundup are among my favorite.

Sharing the park experience with my husband. We've been going to DLR and WDW for fourteen years together and much of the magic comes from our history together and all the wonderful memories we hold from each visit.

20 something years ago when my sister and I flew in from Oz and just BEING in D/L

then when I took my son it was when we first stepped into Carsland.. we grabbed each others hand and looked at each other and grinned like idiots that we were there...!!!!

My sons is his first ride on RSR and first ride on CS.

1. Walking under this gets me every time!

2. One day just the wife and I were the only riders on an elevator in TOT (something happened behind us and they had temporarily stopped sending riders up). As the doors opened at the top of the ride fireworks were going off in DL at that exact moment. It was pretty cool just the two of us getting the best seat in the house for the show for a split second.

3. I was meeting up with the wife and kids walking by myself. As I 'cruised' down the street in Carsland, the neon started lighting up with the music playing. It was very subtle how DLR does it, but still almost gives you the goosebumps. They just know how to make the magic.

4. As we watched Fantasmic! My then 3yr DS from on top of my shoulders loudly applauded at the conclusion of Mickey defeating Malificent and shouted, "Thanks for saving me Mickey!!!" Seeing him so excited was pretty awesome.

5. Trying to catch the 'snow' on our tongues after the firework show during the Christmas season. That smell!

There is no experience like DLR to remove yourself from the everyday grind of life and escape to a better world. Even for only a day.

Great question!

We have two of those moments.

1. After a terrible day we unexpectedly were back in Disneyland after we had left in the afternoon to drive home. Car trouble left us stranded but luckily we got stamps as we left, just for fun. Tired and wandering around, we wound up at IASW as the fireworks started. We caught Walt's speech being projected onto the building. We had never seen this and knew nothing about it. And we were the only people back there. Brought tears to our eyes. Still one of my favorite moments.

2. Being the last people to ride POTC one night. We had the boat to ourselves and the boats in front of us were empty as well. When we exited the ride all of NOS was empty. Havent seen it that way since!

1) After early entry one morning we took time to slow down and enjoy eating breakfast at River Belle Terrace. It was beautiful looking over a quiet Rivers of America and seeing people starting their days at Disneyland. It was also neat knowing that it was one of Walt Disney's favorite places to enjoy Disneyland from as well!

2) End of Grad Nite many years ago. Most people had left the park, it was 4 or 5am and they briefly opened the Fantasyland dark rides- we walked straight on to Peter Pan and going through the Castle on the way out we felt like the only guests in the park, it was a perfectly peaceful ending after the crazy fun the rest of the night had been.

Whenever my little ones see their favorite character and they are in awe that they are "real", it makes my heart melt.

Having Cinderella take my 1.5 year old by the hand and walk from Plaza Inn all the way over to the castle, holding her hand all of the way. It was so magical, true Disney Magic.

We were celebrating my Dad's 70th birthday and my DH's birthday a few year's ago. We surprised them with Birthday pins. My Sister and I had made bets how long the pins would stay on their shirts. They left the pins on all day and got so many "Happy Birthday" greetings form CMs and guests--They had the best day. The best part was the breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen. I think the Characters spent as much time with the "Birthday Boys" as the kids in our group as well as writing "Birthday Dudes" on the table paper with arrows pointing them. I have the best picture of my Dad with tears in his eyes :goodvibes

I totally agree. To me, it was the best feeling ever. Just walking down Main Street, USA the first of every trip is epic.

I think just about every time we go to DLR we experience some kind of magical Pixie Dust. From magical character interaction to VIP seating for fireworks. Just the overall magic is the best.

The one experience that comes to mind was when Grams came with us to Disneyland (before CA). My daughter was so excited that Grams was on a trip with us. We had so many funny experiences that trip. We were entering DL the first day and my DD spotted Mickey Mouse. Oblivious to any line (very small) she ran up and grabbed Mickey by the hand saying, "Oh Mickey, I brought Grams to meet you!" The CM who was working with Mickey was grinning and holding back the line. I was so embarrassed and the CM said, "Oh don't worry about it." Just then my DD noticed the line and she turned and said, "I am sorry. Mickey and I are good friends." Mickey was great with my DD and Grams. Grams hadn't been to Disneyland for about 25 years. It was my mother's last trip as she died a year later.

Wow incredible you have some awesome moments...Riding BTM during fireworks is pretty epic as well.

For me, the most epic day was a while ago. A dental office I worked at in Anaheim would have a Fun Day each year. One year when my brother worked as Maitre'd at Club 33. I was able to secure a day at Disneyland for the entire office and some of the dentist's family member that included a private lunch in the Club 33 Trophy Room. It was a wonderful experience, and everyone had a fabulous day they would never forget.

Most recently, my most blissful was walking around DCA when my then 4 year old proclaimed to me, "I am a Disney kid!"...completely out of the blue. At least I have her on my side when it comes to nudging DH when it comes to Disney trips.

1. Back before the Disneyland Hotel lost the Dancing Waters - when my wife and I were dating, we would go to watch this show. It was on the wooden walkway near the railings where I first told her that I loved her.

2. Same exact place some months later - it was here that I proposed to her.

3. One summer, while in High School, I remember being on BTM as the fireworks show was going on. We crested the last hill just as the grand finale of the fireworks show was happening. Best seats ever for this show!
