What is your greeting when you answer your cell phone?

My cube neighbor always answers her personal cell phone, "Hi this is so and so" if the person calling comes up as a blocked number or if she doesn't recongnize the number and not just with a hello. I find it a little strange. Is it just me?? I could see if it was her work phone since it would be more professional to answer that way.

Personally I don't answer the phone if the number comes up blocked or if I don't know the number.

Then again this is also the girl who everytime her phone rings with her very loud Adam Lambert ringtone she says geez that is loud (you can hear it in my bosses office which is at least 100 feet away). Uhh well then turn the tone down or how about since you are at work put it on vibrate or a ringtone that just has a slight ding or something.

Um, just "hello". I only state my name on my work phone when I answer it.

Work phone outside call: "It's a great day at _____ ______ this is ______ how can I help you?"

Work phone that I can read who it is coming from: "Hello"

Cell phone from someone I know: "Hey", "Hello", "Yo", "What's up?"

If they call my cell and I don't know who they are, I don't answer.

OMG! The girl in the office behind me also has an INSANELY loud Adam Lambert ringtone!!! I love the song but does it really need to be at maximum volume that you can hear from the other end of the office?

"Buddy the elf, what's your favorite color?"

Hahahahah. My cell phone, I usually answer with "yo". LOL. Unless it's my mom. Then I answer with "Hi". I only answer when someone who has been programmed into my phone calls. If I don't know the number, I don't answer.

DH always answers every phone, "Hello, this is First Name." If I'm calling, he says, "Hello, this is your husband." :lmao:

Usually "hello", which I think is pretty stupid (since I can see who's calling), but it's a habit, I guess.

Usually a quiet "hello?" out of habit, or if it's my sister or one of the kids, "hey," or "WHAT???" I usually do the "WHAT" to my kids in public and it always gets a laugh because the ringtone is Stewie from Family Guy doing the "Mom, mom, mom, mama, mama, mama..." line. :lmao:

ETA: I don't actually yell or shriek the "what" in case anyone has an image of this lunatic shouting out in public places!

I usually just answer hello. If it is a number I don't recognize I don't answer. Last time I did it was some man thinking he was calling his 15yr old daughter. When I told him no wrong number he said well I guess she changed her number. What is sad is I have had this number so couple years. :confused3

I answer differently for different people. For our phones (cell & home) I usually know who's calling. So sometimes, it's hi sweetheart, hi Sarah, etc. Sometimes, it's just hello.

.

I don't give out my cell phone number, only my home phone number. As for the cell phone, all 4 people that have the number have blocked numbers, and they only call if they HAVE to get ahold of me, so I always answer, and my greeting is "Hello".

I always answer my cell with "Hello, this is Acklander". I give out my number to lots of people (work related) so I pick up even when I don't know who's calling in. I answer the same for people I know because I usually don't have my glasses on, so can't tell at a glance if it's work related or personal.

I always answer "this is Judy", unless it is a family member then I answer with "hey".

Now that I think about it, I often say "Hello. This is Kim." when I answer my cell phone, but I know I'm not your co-worker (no Adam Lambert ringtone!) I never thought of it as weird.

If I don't recognize the number at all (like from a different area code), I usually don't answer at all. But I will answer if it's a local number even if I don't recognize it. (Might be the parent of one of the kids' friends or something like that.) I don't use a cell phone at work.

Seductively, "Hey baby! What are you wearing?"

I only have a tracfone and my wife is the only one who has the number.

Or in reality, since I only have a few minutes left yet the time is over a year left, I just now turn it off, then call her back on the office phone at work.

If she calls me on my cell phone when I'm home, I just yell to the other room, "Why are you calling my cell phone?" since she would call the home phone if she was at work and I was home with the kids.
