I'm thinking of trying to add a ressie for our night at AK. What would you suggest? Or should we eat someplace else since the park closes so early?

Last year I was hesitant to eat at Yak and Yeti butdecided to try it, I am going back this December, the food was good, the waitstaff was very attentive, I would suggest that to anyone. :)

Another thumbs-up for Y&Y. The food isn't great, but it's generally at least good. I really like the green beans and have always enjoyed really good service. They have reasonably good sake and fun cocktails, too.

We've only done Yak & Yeti and it was our second favorite meal of our 25th anniversary trip in September (just behind our favorite, LeCellier). We can't wait to go back--we really enjoyed the food, the theme and the service was good too (DH had a really good beer too!).

DH and I ate at Y&Y in September. We both had the skirt steak and shrimp, which we were both pleasantly surprised with and we would definitely go there again. The service was very good and we didn't feel like we were eating with another family as can happen in some of WDW's restaurants. One thing: We found it very, very cold in there. I don't know if it's always that way, though.

Had lunch at Yak and Yeti, it was wonderful -- great food, cold draft beer, superb service, interesting decor. For dinner, we went to Animal Kingdom Lodge and ate at Jiko, then took cab back to our resort. The AK lodge is not far on the bus from the park (5-10 min.). Jiko was absolutely delicious -- it is a signature restaurant so is 2 DDP credits if you're on the DDP. Jiko is our favorite restaurant so far. We could care less about rainforest cafe - we have that at home.

Well you said TS, so I'll include Tusker House. Had dinner there in 2008, breakfast in 2009. I thought our dinner was absolutely, wonderfully delicious... but it is a buffet..

We love Tusker House. We go every trip. We even took DSIL and DBIL (who were both on their first trip to WDW) this time and they loved it (Dec. 9th).

The variety of salads and desserts at lunch is great. The bobotie is always delicious.

:)

another vote for Y&Y. Wasn't sure about that one at all. We had the fried green beans and lettuce wraps. My DH had the crispy mahi mahi (not good) and I had the shrimp lo mein. that was good.

We will go again but next time we will stick with just the appies. IMO, better than the entrees

I would have to say Yak & Yeti:thumbsup2!! We LOVE to go there. We usually do Tusker House for breakfast (for the kids to see the characters) and Lunch/Dinner at Yak & Yeti. We LOVE the steak and Shrimp and the Ribs there. So good!! If you are still not sure you could always go to the Animal Kingdom Lodge to try the Boma buffet. That is good too. Hope you have a wonderful trip and enjoy your choice!! :thumbsup2

Y&Y is probbly the best of the limited selection. Like Pumbaa_, we prefer the Apps to the main offerings. They do have a good selection of beer..

I agree, we decided to try Y&Y last week on a whim despite the negative reviews I had seen. We walked up without ADRs right around 12:30 , were seated immediately and we were surprised and pleased with the food quality, and the service was very good.
We also ate at Tusker House earlier in the week and enjoyed it also.

At AK we always eat in Yak and Yeti.

But, if the park closes early, I suggest enjoy your full time in the park and then head over to Sanaa at the new AKVillas and have dinner there. The food is very good, waitstaff very knowledgeable.

We loved it and can't wait to go back.

Yak & Yeti! Stay away from things like sweet & sour whatever and beef & broccoli. Those are the things most people complain about saying they can get that at home.

The ribs are my favorite! I'm not a rib eater at all. The only reason I ordered them was because my husband couldn't decide between the ribs and the Crispy Mahi Mahi. I don't eat fish so I got the ribs for him. Since we were on the deluxe dining plan I knew I would have plenty to eat. For some reason I decided to try to the ribs anyway. Boy am I glad I did. They are AWESOME!!! My husband LOVED the mahi mahi too.

The lettuce cups and pot stickers are also amazing! We went twice last year and are going at least twice this year. We may even go 3 times so I can try their Pho.

We always eat lunch at the Rainforest Cafe, because we think it's fun there.

But, for a real treat, I would suggest taking the 5 min bus ride to AKL and having dinner at Boma. It's an incredible dinner with an African twist, and since it's a buffet it's easy to find something there you'd like (there's even chicken nuggets and mac & cheese with the kids stuff). It's very different from any other WDW buffet, and really the only one we like for dinner.

One other option, but more expensive, is Jiko at AKL. That is a very nice dining experience.:)

We also really enjoyed Yak and Yeti. I had the Mahi Mahi, DH had the Shrimp Lo Mein, and DS had the Honey Crisp Chicken. We all enjoyed our meals and really enjoyed the desserts. The only thing we ate there that we didn't like was the chicken fried rice. We ate breakfast at the Tusker House and while it was good, the tables are incredibly close together so it has more of a cafeteria feel to it.

I don't think you get great park food no matter what park you are in but in is good, doesnt gag you at all, I am looking forward to going there tomorrow for luncn. :cool1:

Yak & Yeti is one of my new favorites after my October trip!! Can't wait to eat there again (make sure you have a Yak Attack, or 2)!
