This year I am bringing my boyfriend to Disney, he has never been. It will be my first time going as an adult (and without family). I have been so excited for it to just be the two of us and enjoy everything! However people have been questioning my adults only trip by saying "isn't WDW for kids?" I, of course, know this isn't true! My questions for everyone is:

Have you ever been on an adults only trip?
What was your favorite thing to do on an adults only trip?
Has anyone made fun of you for going without kids?

We love dining together at table service restaurants for both lunch and dinner. It gives us a chance to get out of the heat and enjoy meals at a slower pace. We plan late dinners around seeing fireworks. We love "being kids" and going on rides and getting pictures with the characters. We still go to the parks at rope drop. Another favorite activity is to chill back at the resort pool after lunch. It gives us a chance to unwind, a little time back in the room, and sometimes time for a nap before returning to a park later. Strolling along hand in hand in love, enjoying life is the best!

We take our kids... our family trip is also an adults only trip. What do we love about it?? Everything! Early mornings and late nights. Drinks by the pool.... eat when and where you want to.... split up if different people want to do different things. We do one sit down meal a day (if that) just because we did not want to be tied down to a schedule. We went during flower and garden this year and it was awesome to try all of the different food offerings with small portions. We would love to try food and wine next time. Just go and have fun. :)

The best thing about an adult only trip is that you can make your own schedule! We don't have kids but we traveled with friends with kids.

We went every morning for rope drop because there are fewer people kids in the parks and lines are shorter. Mid day we either went swim or for drinks somewhere then back for fireworks!

Honestly who cares if people say Disney is only for kids because adults are just big kids but we can drink legally!

And remember to make your own fun!

Have you ever been on an adults only trip? Yes. I go every few years for a girls trip for Food & Wine. I also take solo trips.

What was your favorite thing to do on an adults only trip? Ride my favorites, meet characters and take pics, dine in themed restaurants...pretty much everything

Has anyone made fun of you for going without kids?[/QUOTE]. Yes. Lots of people do not understand why a grown up goes without kids. I don't care what they think, it is my vacation and I will spend it where I want. Go, have fun and ignore any haters

Favorite adult activity: My DH and I immensely enjoyed an 8:15 reservation at Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian. We never go to "fancy" meals, so this was a real treat. We dressed up and took an Uber to the resort. We split a lobster and a really great steak, as well as the almond crusted cheesecake. The reservation was perfectly timed, since we got to watch the both Electrical Water Pageant and the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the deck. It was very romantic.

We loved Narcoossee's, but our fancy restaurant this trip is going to be Shula's Steakhouse at the Dolphin. We want to try a number of places over the next few years until we come up with a clear favorite.

I've been taking my son (just the two of us) since he was 2 1/2, he is now 35 so it's adult only now for us. I would say anything you want to. We learned a long time ago it's not all about the rides, it's about the experience. We spend more time enjoying the resorts now, we do wine tastings in Epcot, we eat TS (in all fairness we did that when was little too).

I couldn't wait for the opportunity to take my adult sons to Disney. The freedom alone to do whatever each wants is so nice. And, unlike previous trips, which were a lot of fun and very memorable, this time we are able to do more dining with a few cocktails if we choose. I am looking forward to it!

There are two types of people in this world: Those who Love Everything Disney .... and everyone else. First off ~ as you already know, everyone at WDW is there for the fun & fantasy. We've been on three adult trips and nobody is making fun of nobody. Second ~ let the boyfriend in on the planning. You know WDW is not all about the rides ~ but he doesn't. You know what he likes and can probably suggest some things ... but get him the WDW Planning DVD or send him to the website. You might be surprised when he want to do a meet & greet with Buzz Lightyear! Third ~ Don't forget the things you BOTH like and find the matching Disney experiences. For us our first adult trip was with my 80 year old mom-in-law and her 78 year old sister and it was hysterical. We did more childlike things on that trip than when we took our grandson and his cousin. Finally: Have Fun!!!!

DH and I do not have kids and we have taken two adult only trips to WDW and we go to Disneyland/California Adventure about twice a month for a few hours. It is fun to be kids again-we enjoy the rides, people watching and getting a drink and sometimes a good meal together. At WDW, we enjoyed lots of pool time. People think we are Disney "fanatics" and I have come to accept that (I know we just enjoy it more than the average person). I usually don't give anyone a chance to say anything about us not having kids and going to Disney. If someone asks what we are up to this weekend or what we are doing on vacation, I usually start with "well....we don't have kids...but we are going to Disney for some fun". I usually get a polite "that sounds like fun" instead of how many kids do you have....every now and then I get someone that lights up and wants more info on planning a WDW trip.

Hope you both have a fantastic time.

I have gone on a few adults only trips and some trips with large family groups where we split off into an adults only group at night. I have never received any comments about going without kids.
Definitely agree with more relaxation. Aside from enjoying the parks, resort hopping is a lot of fun for adults only trips. On my last trip we ate dinner at the Poly one night and then headed over to the GF for a cocktail at Mizner's lounge, to sit and listen to the live band, one of my favorite experiences.
On a really hot day last trip we also camped out in La Cava del Tequila for a while, nice and cool, if you like Tequila, they have one of the largest collections I've ever seen.
Depending on what you and your boyfriend like to do, having the option of touring more "commando" or fast paced might be fun, something that is harder with young kids. On a trip with a close friend, fellow Disney Fanatic, we stayed from rope drop through EMH and had a blast. Road all of the rides several times. This is not for everyone though (my family who I went on the trip where we stopped at Mizenr's would have hated this).
Best adivce, talk about your trip together, think about what you really enjoy doing together back home and try to mirror a few of those activities at Disney, there is literally something for everyone.

Have you ever been on an adults only trip?

about 15ish years ago I did and it was a very short trip and I really loved it.. I didn't take enough time to really appreciate the place as an adult back then. Now I always go adults only because my daughter is now an adult and my park buddy.

What was your favorite thing to do on an adults only trip?

again, it's mainly my daughter so the romantic side to this questions doesn't exist for me (yet, I'll train someone that they need to be at disney a lot sometime in the future). I loved being able to skip a lot of thigns that was for a younger child. Don't take that wrong, I'm not saying things are child specific but it was great to not have to guess what my daughter wanted or didn't want to do.. we could skip over characters as it wasn't of interest and the lines were huge (but not always).

My favorite thing is really walking around and appreciating what is around me more. Really having the time to just slow down or even stop and just check out how the place is made, the little details, enjoying the family fighting and that it's not me..

I will tell you exactly what I told the young couple with three children as we stood in line waiting for the bus to the Magic Kingdom when they asked "Wow, at your age (we are in our 60's), what do you guys do here at WDW?" "We do everything you do without the crying, frequent bathroom stops, complaining they want to go on a ride that has a two hour wait and you don't want to wait, not having to purchase a lot of toys, shirts, and other stuff in the shops. We have never enjoyed the parks so much since we stopped taking our kids and then our grandkids. We do all of the character meals, we get our pictures taken with all the characters in the Parks, we dance in the parade. I still treasure the times we spent with family in the park, but going, just the two of us is the only way we will ever go from now on.

I have done several adult only and solo trips and I can tell you a little bit about them. Fine dining is a must. California grill at the contemporary lodge maybe artists point at wilderness lodge or even yachtsman steakhouse in the yacht and beach club. If you guys enjoy good cocktails head over to the Tambu lounge in the Polynesian share a lapu lapu like a real tourist lol. Try the boathouse at Disney springs also. A great night ender is Jellyrolls dueling piano bar on the boardwalk. The pianists are great at what they do and the place is always crowded. 12$ cover charge so not too bad.
