My husband really wants to go to Animal Kingdom. I wore out the kids last year going commando following the Unofficial Guide's touring plan, so they are weary of the park. We mostly did the rides. I know there is a lot there that we did not get to enjoy.

What are your favorite things to do at AK?

The first thing you should do when you get there is fast pass the Kali River Rapids ride -- it's usually the longest wait and its far away from the entrance that by the time you get over there the fast passes are for 6 hours later...the safari ride is an absolute must and Dinoland is fun for everyone.....the shows are great too, Tarzan Rocks and Bug's Life are good to duck into to get out of the heat......

Missing the Magic...be back in 2 weeks for spring training!!!:earsboy:

I agree with Allicat - the Lion King show is phenomenal - my favorite attraction at the AK.

My dd still talks about the 10-foot high walking vine from our trip 2.5 years ago. Sit and appreciate her. She's amazing!

We let the kids play for over 1 hour in the boneyard and they absolutely loved it. Also take the time to stroll the Maharaja Jungle Trek. The tigers were the best I've ever seen (and I live near the "World Famous" Bronx Zoo!)

We only spent 1 day there, but needed more time. It's overwhelming. Looking forward to trying Primeval Whirl! Has anyone done this?

Head to the safari and the to the lion king show. We also really enjoyed the acrobat show the last trip. I also did take the time to really enjoy the animals this time. The meerkats were cute and little ds just did a school report on them so he was also very interested. We watched a sloth or monkey, I cant remember intently trying to find some food. Everyone was just busyily going by then when they saw us, all of a sudden a lot of people also stopped and stared. I was also fascinated by a brightly colored blue fish. Take time to notice the little things. It does get frustrating when the ds cant "find" an animal, so then they tend to hurry on. I also like the bats. We also sat and listened to a nice band while the ds went on dinosaur. Once we had a group of people around us staring at a dragonfly who landed on ds cap. You never know where the magic will pop up. We were just walking and happened upon flik, so instant photos and autographs etc. My kids have also enjoyed the discovery centers where you got the little stamps at each station. Do they still have these? My ds also enjoy the flights of wonder bird show. Our one ds was chosen to throw up some food for the bird. Awesome and he has that great memory.

Don't miss -

Festivel of the Lion King
the Safari Ride (can't think of the actual name)
Tough To Be A Bug
Flights of Wonder
Dinosaur
Kali River Rapids

Those are our favorite attractions.

Also, try to do Kali River Rapids right before you are leaving the park for the day. You get SOAKED on the ride - but it's worth every minute of it because it is so much fun!

Just enjoy the park - commando style is okay sometimes, but you really miss so much when you just try & rides the rides! There are so many other things to see & do!

Our favorite thing at AK is just to wander around the Oasis area and check out the animals. We love to explore all the little trails and hidden areas. We also enjoy the shops! In my opinion, if you rush through AK on your way from one ride to another, you will totally miss the magic and beauty of this park!

LOL luvmarypoppins! Took me a brief moment to realize you did not mean your son had to 'throw up' food for the birds! :p

Lion King is the best thing going, Kali River Rapids is a must do, as is Kilimanjaro Safari, and (believe it or not) I give high marks to Flights of Wonder. Animal Kingdom, to me, is mostly about enjoying the smaller details. This is definitely a 'go slow' park. Make it your 4th day park, when you're really ready for a bit of a break but still want to be in the parks.

Enjoy!

My favorite thing to do at Animal Kingdom is relax. Enjoy the beautiful park. If you take your time exploring the park in between the main attractions, you will have a wonderful day and not feel exhausted.

My daughter & I are obsessed with finding Devine... Maybe this year!

The thing my boys like best is squirting the riders on Kali River Rapids. There are buttons to push on the bridge at the exit! They had the BEST time messing with people!::yes:: We love this park, and I hope you have a delightful trip!

Maharajah Jungle Trek and the Pangani forest trail. The safari ride is incredible too, and taking the train to conservation station is a nice way to relax and seeing the animal hospital there is pretty interesting. If your timing is good (always totally coincidental) you may be able to see them operating on an animal. We saw them amputating a crocodile's tail. We love animal kingdom, because it's so different from the other parks. In some ways it seems like everything there moves at a slower pace then in the other parks, if that makes sense.

I know it gets mixed reviews, but I love Animal Kingdom.

Don't miss out on the Festival of the Lion King, Dinosaur, and It's Tough to Be a Bug. Aside from the fact that they're great attractions, they're also indoors & air-conditioned (a definate perk, depending on your time of visit).

Also, the safari & Kali River Rapids are not to be missed. Just watch out on those rapids if the weather isn't hot that day! The safari can be enjoyed several times per day, as you will see different things on each trip. The line often dwindles late in the day, so check back then.

I agree with one of the earlier posters that AK is a park to linger over and absorb the little things (and there are a lot of them). The landscaping and animals are beautiful.

My favorite THING to do at AK is after we ride the safari, stop at Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery and get a hot, covered in icing, cinnamon roll fresh out of the skillet. My mouth is watering as I type!! With a cup of coffee, I'm in heaven. Then head over to Fetival of the Lion King.

Don't forget the secret pathway! It's a great spot to discover. Hidden from the crowds and a great place to just get lost for a few minutes.

Festival of the Lion King...worth the price of admission.
I would go see every single show in a single day if my family would let me. :D

My favorite thing at AK is the Festival of the Lion King.....and Flame Tree Barbeque! I just love those barbeque sandwiches! :)
