We're expecting a little surprise in April and I'm hoping to get opinions on strollers. I had twins last time so I was a bit more limited in my choices, not to mention that it's been six years!! And nine years since my singleton! We are totally out of the stroller loop! I have a Maclaren still that I love and will use when baby is a toddler but what to use at the beginning?? If it factors into your recommendations, we're trying to plan a WDW trip for when baby will be about 4 months old

Here's our stroller wish list, if that helps:

* needs to be appropriate for a little baby
* needs to be easy for a tall person to push, DH is 6'4 (I'm only 5'4 though)
* I want something sturdy and well built
* I'd love to be able to switch and either have baby face us or face out and watch things
* I'd like to have either a bassinet attachment or something that lays flat or almost flat
* easy to fold! I don't want to be wrestling to get this thing in my trunk!

Any suggestions would be great, I've looked online but get overwhelmed, especially since the higher end strollers are hard to find and see in person, and Babies R Us just seems to have a lot of variations on the same few strollers

Best overall (and folds compact enough for easy bus transport, though it's still kind of heavy) would probably be a Peg Pliko. You won't get the reverse feature, however.

The best affordable choice if reverse is really important to you is probably the Mia Moda Atmosferra. If money is no object you'll probably want to look at Bugaboos.

For the very beginning I'd go with something that the baby bucket carseat attaches into. I've heard good things about the newest Britax travel system.

If you're just looking for something until the baby is big enough to use the Maclaren, I'd go with the Snap 'n go frame that you can just stick the infant car seat into. It's much simpler than the bulky travel system.

SNAP N GO! BEST invention EVER!
After that... PEG PEREGO P3... and the Mac!

Another vote for the Peg. Got ours when our now 4YO was born and are now using it for baby #2. It is perfect for the little babies and still perfect for the bigger toddlers too.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family!!!!

I would get the P3 if you plan to use it at WDW. We started using ours when DD was 4 months old at 22 months old, she still loves it and so do we. If you weren't planning to use it at WDW, I would recommend the Snap 'N Go. We used one for quick trips out of the house for the first 6 months and loved it because it is lightweight & so easy to use. I would't recommend using a Snap 'N Go at WDW because I don't like leaving a baby in the carseat for more than an hour. Little ones need to be able to stretch out after a little while.

Another thumbs up for a stroller frame with the car seat then to a Mac!

A stroller frame with a carseat is great for quick car-centric errands without waking the baby, but it really isn't great for using for hours at a time on a theme-park visit.

Experts really advise against keeping an infant in a carseat for more than about 40 minutes at a time unless he is actually in a moving vehicle, because the angle is very hard on the spine and can contribute to flattening of the head and weakness of the back muscles.

What I would advise is staying away from "travel systems". Terrible quality strollers with those things; they are literally a huge waste of money. The truth is that ANY stroller that has a front napper bar can support an infant carseat, though you may want to put a bungee around it for extra security.

So, we're bad parents....

Our snap-n-go was an OLD hand-me-down I couldn't travel with and I wanted a one-handed stroller so the travel systems seem cumbersome.

We had to go to NYC when DD was 3 months old. We took our Mac (we have a Techno). We had the little pillow thing and the pads on the straps. We had it reclined one click when she was awake. She charmed the heck out of the lines at ORD as well as the people in NYC. DD always preferred looking out. She also was a sturdy baby--never floppy-headed, probably close to 15 lbs. She sat on my lap at a lunch place since we had the stroller and not the bucket. She did fine. It may depend on the infant.

But we went Mac at 3 months and never looked back. She's 3 next week!

I'll be using my Joovy Kooper when we take our next trip with our newest addition...he'll be about 3 months then.

I have a Graco Quattro travel system which I'll use to shop with, etc. while at home. But I like something lightweight for the parks. I have a Maclaren Triumph and I just don't care for it at all. So tippy and just seems like a regular umbrella stroller to me. The Joovy only weighs 3 more pounds than my Maclaren but seems like a much more substantial stroller. The canopy is huge, nice basket, mesh cupholders, etc.

I was looking for similar qualities in a stroller and I ended up with a Peg Uno. My son loved the bassinet and I liked that the handle flipped so he could face me. Unfortunately it was very hard to steer when the seat was facing me.

I was planning on buying a Bugaboo Frog or Uppababy Vista for the next baby before I found out I was expecting twins. I think they fulfill all the criteria on your wish list.

I used the Graco Snap n go with DS carrier. We took this to Disney for 7 days when DS was 6 weeks old. It worked great. Very light weight and easy to deal with. I now use the Peg Pliko. His car seat fits on it, but doesn't snap on. I wouldn't recommend using the carrier with this stroller anywhere busy. The Peg lies flat and the shade can completely cover the seat (including the front). This is what I will take when we go in June (DS will be 13 months). I have a Mac for DD 4.

I don't have a good suggestion since our stroller is terribly bulky and 7 years old. However, I will suggest a stroller that reclines flat. At 4 months old, many babies can sit up in a regular stroller - but not an umbrella stroller. The stroller we have can be used as a travel system with a car seat. But by 4 months, all my kids had outgrown their infant seats anyway. We went to Disney when my second was 2 months and then again at 9 months. (And will be going when the 3rd child is 11 months). What worked great was to take a sling and a single stroller without the carseat - even when my daughter was 2 months old and the car seat fit. It was one less thing to carry. The sling helped since I had a 3 year old as well so they could take turns. Or, I could even park the stroller somewhere for a while as we walked around without it! The stroller was needed for naps since my daughter wouldn't nap in the sling. The sling then came in handy as I draped it over the stroller to block out the sights so she would sleep. If you use disney transportation, then the sling can also help since you can sling the baby and still have your hands free.

I bought a Perego P3 for my niece.

It reclines almost flat. Although, I haven't used it for an infant. It has all the features a regular full size stroller has but folds up like an umbrella. It can stand up on it's own folded and doesn't tip if you add bags to the handles. The sun shade is great and my niece used it this year when she was 44" tall. So you would get good use of the stroller if you were to choose the P3.

I bought mine at www.albeebaby.com

Thank you for the suggestions, I really do appreciate them. It's nice to have some ideas of "tried and true" strollers to look into

While I like the idea of the snap and go, I don't think it would be good for WDW in August. I think baby would be really hot in there and not have much room to stretch out and obviously, baby would not be able to lay flat in there.

I do plan on bringing a sling and/or mei tai carrier, but it's August and I know I'll be hot too (I don't regulate temps well and am prone to fainting at times) so I don't know that carrying baby all day everyday for a week and a half will work out well. DH had a hard time with the sling with the other kids because he's so tall and has really broad shoulders, it didn't really fit well, or he would of course be willing to help carry baby also.

princesspooh, good luck with the twins! I had twins in 2004 and my oldest turned 3 a few weeks afterwards. It was totally crazy, you are in for an interesting ride!! :thumbsup2 Twin strollers are a totally different ballgame. At one point I even considered a triple, just to keep older DD corralled as well if I had to go somewhere

I absolutely love the Baby Jogger City Mini. If I were to use it for a newborn, I would just get the infant car seat attachment and then use it for good when the baby is out of the bucket seat.

I attached a spray fan on the stroller and it kept him pretty cool. I also brought a piece of fabric to put under him so the car seat wouldn't make him sweat and stick to it. I also used a ring sling made from solarveil fabric. It is UV protected.

Can have baby ride facing you, or away from you. Seat reclines flat and you can buy accessories to this stroller (like the carrycot) for a newborn to make a bassinet type thing. Also, the handle is adjustable up and down to accommodate taller and shorter users. It's also easy to fold!
