Inspired by the new icon: :hippie: what song is your favorite from the "olden days?"

I love it when my 6 year old does YMCA-brings back memories. His favorite CD is the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

I can't possibly name just one, but some I really loved were "Here Comes the Sun" (followed closely by just about anything else by the Beatles), "White Room" by Cream, and "Layla" by Derek and the Dominos (Eric Clapton).

I was a teen in the 60's and love that we had such cool music. Thanks for this thread! :hippie: :thanks:

Knock three Times by Tony Orlando and Dawn

heyyyyy girl whatcha doin down there....dancin' alone while i live right aboooveeeeeeeeeeee youuuuuu........

For some reason I Wonder What She's Doing Tonight by Boyce and Hart has always been my favorite.

Not sure which era it was, but I've always loved the song by Frankie Vallie...I think it's "You're Too Good to be True". Is that it?

I have always loved that song Dreamweaver by Gary something or other....
Also love Misunderstanding by Genesis :cool1:

I really, really dislike most of the music from the 60's and 70's, (I am more of an 80's girl) but here are a few good ones...

1960's
Ramble On - Led Zeppelin
Helplessly Hoping - Crosby Stills and Nash

!970's
Speak to Me/Breathe - Pink Floyd
Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton

wonderful tonight is a great song. and one of my faves.
i love a group nobody has ever heard of....dr. hook and the medicine men-you make my pants wanna get up and dance, sylvia's mother, and i got stoned and i missed it--are three of my faves by them. and then i love the travelling wilburys (were they the 70's?) their best song is tweeter and the monkey man and congratulations (for breaking my heart).

I can't pick a favorite. I like lots of the songs from that era.

I feel the same way, my whole ipod is made up of music from that generation. If I had to pick one, it would be Sourthern Cross.

Would have to be Witchi-Tai-To by Brewer and Shipley. I still listen to it every night on my "fall asleep" iPod playlist.

Wilbury's were from the mid-80's, but I liked their songs, too.

And yes indeed - I remember Dr. Hook.

Darn, you missed it by a couple of years. "Southern Cross" by CSN was released in '82, not the 60's or 70's (but it's still a really good song) IMHO.

"Bluebird" by Buffalo Springfield (1967) was a very cool song.

Gosh, I apologize in advance if this sounds like I'm coming off as a music snob, but I thought this thread was about music of the 60's and 70's. I love the music of my teens and twenties, and hope to dance to these songs with my grandchildren someday.

A lot of the songs being mentioned in this thread were very cool, but didn't come out until the 80's (Queen, Saturday Night Fever, and others).

Hey, OP, can we go ahead and include the 80's cuz there were some pretty good songs from that period, too? :thumbsup2

Saturday Night Fever came out in 1977. (one of my favorite all time movies and sound tracks).
Queen's been around since the 70s tooo :)
