Tell me a favorite memory that you have from a Disney Resort....whether it was something small like feeding the resident bird-life or something big like a wedding proposal.....I would love to read them all!!!

My special memory is at POR, the first time we stayed on property (5 years ago) I woke up early on our first morning there to walk to the food court for coffee, the sun was rising on the Sassagoula River, the baby ducks were out for their morning walk w/ mom, a couple of joggers would pass by, you could smell bacon cooking from the restaurant, and I remember that was my most peaceful I had been since I first started planning this trip for my family....knowing finally that I made the right desicision by coming down here. Everything was clean, quiet, the landscaping meticulous. I have other wonderful resort memories, but that was my first resort stay, so that memory will always be held as very special to me. Now how 'bout you all??? :flower:

It was our first day at POR (back then, it was called Dixie Landings!). We had already checked in and decided to relax at the pool a while. Hubby and I on lounge chairs, umbrella drinks in hand, while our kids zipped down the water slide and just plain had fun.

I remember thinking that life doesn't get any better than that...a beautiful spot in the world, sun in a clear blue sky, cool drink in your hand, surrounded by your happy family.

my favorite resort memory is when rob proposed to me on the beach of the GF. we didn't stay there during that trip but it's my favorite memory that involves a resort. does that count?

My favorite resort memory is when DS17 was much younger and we were staying at the Poynesian. We had a pation garden view room and the 1st day I opened the patio doors and he saw the ducks and he feed them on the patio. The next day, the ducks came up on the patio and were knocking on the glass door with their beaks, looking for my son (and the food!)

He loved it and so did I. We are staying at the Poly again this year and I asked for a patio room (for sentimental reasons). I got chatting with the CM while making my reservation and told her the story. Well, when my confirmation came, the reservation said "First floor patio by the ducks!"

My son was mortified! He couldn't believe I told the CM that story and she put it on our reservation.

2 more days until we leave!

I don't remember the year, but it was when you could get a pass that would let you ride the rides unlimited!!! Before that we always had to get the ticket books...

Anyway, we were checking into our room at the Contemporary, and I remember dad buying that wonderful unlimited ride pass and giving it to me. It was a big pass on a neck rope. I thought I was queen of the world. How much better could life be than unlimited rides at Disney World? Afterwards, I rode the teacups eleven times in a row! I would get off the ride, run around to the entrance again, proudly display my unlimited ride pass and get back on the ride. The CM finally just told me to stay on. I'm thinking this was '80 or '81 for some reason.

But the greatest memory of this trip was the actual moment there in the Contemporary where I was handed my version of "the golden ticket". Ahhh, memories. I remember how the CM desk was set up, I remember our room in the tower, I remember it all.

My favorite memory was my first trip to WL in July 94. We had ressies at PO but as the Lodge was brand new Disney actually called us to upgrade us to their brand new hotel(rate was 99.00 a night plus tax).

As I walked into the gorgeous pool like Greek Goddess(o.k. I felt like a goddess, didn't actually look like one) I said out loud "How DO the poor people live" and my brother said" ask me Wednesday when we get home" We will be the poor people next week". So now when we return to the WL, we always ask as we enter the pool, How DO the poor people live? We always have a good laugh at that. I may not BE rich, but staying at the WL always make me feel rich.

Hmmm....I have several but one memory that sticks out is one I've told here before.

It would be walking into our room at the Dolphin and having an unobstructed view of Spaceship Earth all a glow at night time! When we checked in earlier that day, we didn't realize how spectacular that view would be come nightfall when everything lights up! That and watching the fireworks from Illuminations while in our pajamas is a memory none of us will soon forget! :)

Seeing as we've only stayed onsite once(this past December), I don't have tons of memories to choose from. I do have to say that not ONE specific memory sticks out in my mind. Going along with the OP, I also remember getting up early and walking over to the food court(We stayed at POR). The walk was a beautiful one. The weather was chilly, it was sunny...I loved the smell. We had to walk around Ol Man Island and then over a bridge or two...I remember standing on the bridge and staring down the Sassagoula and thinking about how beautiful it was. I wanted to stay there forever. I loved gawking at the other guests, watching everyone doing their morning routines. POR was like paradise to me, and I can't wait to go back in October and enjoy it again. Just staying there-period- is a great memory for me. :sunny:

My favorite memories happen everytime I take someone to WDW who has never been. The look on their face when they first see the Magic Kingdom, whether they are 4 or 40 makes me remember my first time.

My very favorite is from the Poly in 1976. I remember sitting on the beach there - and swimming in the lagoon! Mom and Dad sipping pina coladas at the beach bar. Ah, those were the days... :sunny:

Picture it - the Poly, 2001 (I've been watching a lot of Golden Girls lately!).

We took a train down from Boston (a few months after 9/11). We were exhausted, dirty, dazed from the 28 hr. train ride. We checked into the Poly, showered up, and took the kids to the volcano pool. I plopped down with a Mai Tai, looked across the lagoon and the first firework popped over MK. It took every ounce of energy I had not to break down and sob!

My favorite resort memory is also our funniest. I did post this in the past under a different thread. We were staying at the Polynesian, and my son who was then probably in 5th grade had left his bathing suit hanging on a chair outside to dry. When we got back from the park, he grabbed it and went into the bathroom to change. Soon after, we heard "ooh, ooh, Oh my God......" We got concerned and asked what was wrong, and he continued to ooh, ooh, Oh my God, gross... He finally opened the door, and his bathing suit was lying on the floor. He had put it on, felt something cool and slimey, and went to relieve himself, and saw a frog sitting in the crotch of his suit! :) We were all hysterical laughing and continue to laugh hysterically about it to this day. We took a picture, and there's his suit lying in a heap on the floor with a frog peeking out! :)

Many great resorts & memories. My favorite was during our first stay at the Swan. We had a balcony facing Epcot & could see Illuminations. One night, shortly after viewing that show, we looked to our left & could see the MK fireworks! Very beautiful & romantic.

My favorite was when we went back to AS Movies in March (we had been there in September) and my dd who was turning 4 just walked into the lobby like she owned the place! The first thing she said was, "come on, let's go see my little doggie" meaning the dalmation puppy in the Dalmation courtyard. Well, I didn't even have to show her the way! She remembered right where to go. I was amazed that a kid that little would remember the layout of a resort 6 months later! They are amazing! By the second day, she knew exactly how to get back to the room from the bus stop or food court.

This is one of the best memories from the Polynesian! To see the beautiful sunset...It made me fall more in love with the Polynesian. And also to walk out in the balcony and look to the left and see Cinderella Castle every day is so "magical!" And of course.. to just lay in the hammock enjoying the serenity is just wonderful!

An evening at the Animal Kingdom Lodge around the Arusha fire pit listening to stories. So nice to relax in an idyllic environment. I'm reading lots of books on Africa now, it stimulated my interest....

Okay, I know this sounds silly, but the original post made me tear up. It just reminded me of that incredible effect WDW can have on you, when you hit that state of peace.

So, then of course a bunch of posts after that one brought tears to my eyes, too. Yeesh, I'm such a girl!

My favorite memory has to be a few years ago when I checked into my garden view room at the Polynesian, dropped my bags, opened the curtains, and saw *the castle*. That moment combined with the next morning, sitting on my balcony, eating Tonga Toast and loving the view, totally blissed out.

Staying at Fort Wilderness with my grandparents. They took my brother and I every year. I have this fantastic memory of my grandfather and I at the campfire movie watching the original Freaky Friday with Jodie Foster. We loved going and getting our favorite treat- the frozen, chocolate and nut-covered banana. I still smile (and cry) whenever I think of it.

Just have so many wonderful memories of them taking us to Fort Wilderness. It's the reason I have such a love of Disney, and I am so thrilled to be taking my kids for the first time this year. Gotta go find a kleenex now...

Sitting in a lounge chair while watching my children enjoy SAB while I eat my ice cream from Beaches & Cream.

Everything about our Poly stay last Oct. My friend had never stayed onsite, and I let her do everything from checking in, to where we dined. We had outstanding weather, and we both experienced MNSSHP for the first time. Needless to say, she's hooked, we're going back this Oct.
