I love a lot of the pool themes that Disney comes up with. I would like to plan future stays around the pools (we spend a lot of our trip in the water). I would like to know what are everyones favorite pools and why.

Thanks,
Michele

I have two faves: Storm Along Bay at YC/BC for the sand bottom, the lazy river, the view out across the lake and food from Hurricane Hannah's. I also like Old Man Island for the relaxing atmosphere, the zippy little waterslide and the fact that it never seems crowded.

I can go along with SAB but when its crowded its miserable there. We tried the Y&B and do like it but for our long stays, we prefer the WL. The rocky pool, 2 hot tubs, and being right on Bay Lake is more to our liking. We really like the food and atmosphere of FW, Trails End and Crocketts Tavern and from WL just a pleasureable boat ride away. EWP from the beach is a plus and our favorite park is still the MK. At night, WL is so quiet its like being a survivor on some island, so close to the mix of Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake but quite remote. Again, if it summer season, no pool is relaxing but we go value and off season and the time we now spend at the resort grows more each trip and the pool has become a focal point in out stays. WL holds all we dream about in a Disney vacation.

Another vote here for SAB! Love it, Love it! Great slide, very oversized creative pool. Looks like it will crowded when we are there next week, hopefully not as crowded as the Spring Break / Easter trips we have done in the past.

I like Storm Along Bay for swimming, because it has really deep water (not just 5 feet!).

For just chilling, I love the jetted end of the Poly Volcano pool, near the slide, where you can look out at the beach and the castle.

we are big on old man island, the sluce (sic) affect is very cool and the pool bar is very nice. try the mudslide, its an alcoholic drink, my wife loves them. im not much for chocolate and booze together myself.

We really loves the SAB also but I have to say that swimming at the WL is also wonderful. The way the water flows from the main lodge to the pool is really cool. It is nice to be swimming at night and just walk a short ways to see and hear the water parade.

WL. We love hanging on the edge where the water from the stream goes into the main pool, creates kind of a spa effect, then we let go and feel like trout swimming upstream (cute to watch the kids do this, kind of embarrassing to see me as an adult do it!!!) The water was so warm. The geyser going off in the background, the grandeur of the lodge in front of you. Its awesome!

We really love SAB. We've also been to the WL, AKL, and POR pools. SAB is our favorite, followed by the pool at WL (but I don't care for the hotel AT ALL so we won't be staying or swimming there again). The advantage of SAB for our family is that there are fun areas that are great for DD#1 (age 11) and for DD#2 (age 5). POR, WL, and AKL lack good kiddie areas. They have those foot deep kiddie pools, but the sand bar and shallow end of SAB is great for my little one.....and for us!

Of all the resorts we've stayed at (see below), Stormalong Bay wins hands down. DW & I enjoyed it every day of our last trip. After that I would rank them like this:

*these three are all excellent
2. POFQ
3. Swan
4. Coronado Springs

5. Contemporary (not bad; good view from the pool area.)

Generic
6. ASMu

We stayed at AKL in February & didn't experience the pool, but it looked awesome.

Looking forward to Saratoga Springs this year. Unofficial Guide ranks it third behind SAB & POFQ.

My vote is WL...theming is beautiful...2 yes I said 2 hot tubs plus the geyser erupts every so often. Right on the man made lake so you can watch the water parade....here is my rating of resort pools.

1. WL - just beautiful at night
2. BW- find the least crowded, especially the quiet pool- perfect for a swim at midnight- ALso enjoy the carousel bar poolside

3. Dolphin & Swan - like the depth of these pools. I am not much for zero entry. Dolphin has lap pool which I like in the mornings

4. CSR-all around lovely pool- good theming, great hot tub-quite large for resort and temperature is always just right.

5-Poly- small in nature but great location-kids loved

6-POFQ-liked this pool because it was always warm and kids when very young adored the dragon slide.

7-SAB- IMHO quite annoying. I personally don't like the sand on the bottom of the pool because it carrys into the hot tub which btw is always full of small children with no parents around. Almost impossible to get a chair but I will say it is different. It is great to experience once.

8. POR- okay pool but needs a rehab- just okay in my book

9-CR-this pool reminded me of an outdoor YMCA...just horrible. bottom of my feet hurt because it needs to be totally resurfaced. No theme whatsoever but will say it is never crowded and you are right on the water.

10- AS -what can I say... plain pool, average and great for teens

My next pool to visit is CBR...heard it is great!!!

8. this pool was just rehabed 2 years ago. its supposed to look broken down.:lmao:

I love the pool at AKL - the pool area is just beautiful, with the stunning Lodge as the backdrop. The lush landscaping and African music playing in the background, plus the nice pool bar, savannah viewing area, playground, food court along the borders of the pool area, make the experience very nice :thumbsup2 I absolutely LOVE it there, although during Easter week it was so crowded it was brutal...

I also LOVE the themed pools at the GF and Poly. To look out over the Seven Seas Lagoon and see boats and the monorail and, in the case of the Poly pool, to be able to see the MK and Cinderella's Castle... QUITE magical! :wizard:

Stormalong Bay is my DD (10)'s favorite. But that pool makes me CRAZY:scared:
