I'm sure this has been done before but I can't access old threads anymore.

We are staying for our first time at OKW in October and if we have a choice of buildings I was interested in opinions about which is the best place to stay and why you think so. Also which is the worst.

5 1/2 MONTHS TO GO!! Wow, that sounds long.:(

We have taken 11 trips as members and have never requested a specific building. Our only request has been non smoking. By accident we have been at different buildings on Millers Road and at Southpoint. We loved all buildings, and have never actually stayed in the same building more than once. Our favorite area is Southpoint because of location to the DD walkway and a middle bus stop, so ride both in and out is not a big issue. A slight negetive was when we stayed in building 45 because it was a long walk from the bus stop, but had a nice view of the waterway. I do know that I would not like a 1 Bedroom below #30 if I had anyone staying in the living room because of the 1 door into the bathroom in those buildings. As far as other amenities are concerned, I think all buildings are so well maintained at OKW, it is really a non entity.

We always request a certain are because we like it, but it will remain a big secret.
(Sorry, but if all the folks out there knew the great places we'd never get into the place
we like.) But I do agree with the above post, #45 is a long walk from the bus stops and would not recommend.

I like building 18 - it is non-smoking, near a bus stop, and near a quiet pool - plus more of these rooms have a water view. I have stayed in all the sections - the only complaint I have was when we were on the first floor and had what DVC called a golf view but the plants were so overgrown that you couldn't see anything. I think it was in the 30's. Otherwise the rooms and the views have been great. However I generally don't (at least anymore) request an area - I request water view, near bus stop, and near pool. I have generally gotten what I want.

It is always interesting to read these replies and get other opinions. Our absolute favorite building happens to be building 45--with bldg 46 a close second!! Admittedly, they are not the closest to the bus stop or the pool , but I never thought the walk was all that bad. Of course I must be honest, we always have a car with us and frequently drive where we want to go. That being said, Bldgs. 45 and 46 give an incredible view of Trumbo Canal and the boats going back and forth to DD. It is sooo peaceful. Looking across the canal you see a beautiful wooded area. We are always thrilled when we get one of these buildings. The extra bathroom door is important to us as we almost always have four to seven people in our unit--so we always ask for buildings 30 or higher. There really aren't any bad buildings. A lot depends on what is important to your family.

We stayed in building 64 in December and loved it. It is on Millers road and had a gorgeous view of the 7th green of the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. It was also close to the Hospitality House. We had a 2 Bdr on the 3rd floor.

We have been members since 1993, so we have stayed in several different buildings and each one has advantages. In some of the rooms of bldg. 39 and 41 you can see the fireworks at Epcot every night, bldgs. 55 and 56 are close to a pool and playground and in a quiet area by the golf course, bldgs. 11, 12, 13, & 14 are close to all the main action. I never request buildings because I like experiencing all the different areas within OKW. I DO recommend that you request a ground floor room if you have any children under 5, carrying a child up stairs after a long day is a pain.
Have a good time, October is a great time to visit.
