What is your favorite Disney tradition?

We always have breakfast (before the park opens) at Akershus on our first full Disney day. And on our way out of MK, on our departure day, we always have to have a picture of us waving to the Castle and saying "See Ya Real Soon", we are standing right in Town Square next to the Flag Pole. One other Disney tradition is that every time we go, we have to have a picture of our girls sitting in the Mickey Ears structure right behind CR. We have been taking pictures of them there since they were 4 and 2...they are now 11 and 9. It is our version of a growth chart for each one of the girls :goodvibes.

We always have one breakfast at Kona....usually on our first morning. On our last night we watch Wishes from Main Street. An we always go to 50s Prime Time (mostly for the PB milkshake).

Crystal Palace EVERY trip. Well the name probably explains it...

That and it is the place our most magical disney moment. When our son was 23 months old, we went to CP for a late lunch. We took it slow - our mid-day break. As we getting ready to leave, my DW wanted to use the use the restroom, so my son and I were looking at the topiaries in the main area.

The place was empty as they were getting ready to open for dinner, so the staff told us to hang out for a second. Then all of the characters came back out and sat on the floor with my son for like 15 minutes. DW comes out and there we are playing with the characters.

Most.Magical.Experience.To.Date. (It might be topped sometime in the next 20 years).

We buy a Disney Christmas ornament each trip...we choose it together when it's DS and I; we each buy the same one if it's one of the families I take...I go often enough (no, DVC saves no money; it just lets me "feed my habit" far more frequently!) that it's now fun to point to the ornaments we already have, while we're shopping for the current new one, and remember the trip when we acquired it...altho there is always something new, the various Disney shops also carry the same ornaments year after year

Trimming our tree each year is an exercise in remembering Disney trips...for us, Christmas is THE most magical wonderful time of year--adding Disney memories to it has just enhanced this...

DS is now done w/school (he graduated from law school this past May), and working in another city...our Disney trips together will be far fewer...it's transition time...the "souvenir" ornaments have become more precious than ever...

A chocolate chip cookie from Main St bakery to eat on main st while watching Wishes! Usually on our last night. Also, we always go and have one meal at Beaches and Cream during our trip. We leave in just 4 days!!:goodvibes

Before kids we went to Capt Jacks for a drink before heading to airport. In the last 21 years as we exit EPCOT for the last time we all toss coins in the fountain.:grouphug: I know what I wish for and damn if doesn't happen again and again ! Next time it happens will be May:woohoo: Oh yeah we always get a picture with our room number as I have documented that since the 70's even b4 kids.

I love reading these! As if I'm not too much of an escapist already ........hearing the Disney family traditions helps me until our next trip in March. It's also good to know I'm not the biggest Disney junkie out there....but I'm working on it.

We always eat at The Plaza our last day in MK. It goes back to our disneymoon. We were so tired of soybean burgers the whole trip that we ate there our last day so we could have a real burger. It has turned into our biggest tradition. I also get a resort pin if we stay at a DVC resort for the first time. We will be at WL for the second time but the first as DVC members so I will be getting a new pin. Just need to figure out where to put it on my lanyard.

1) Picture of the four boys with Ariel at BCV
2) Evening at Boardwalk (sometimes two) to watch street performers (Brian the Magician is our fave--he always remembers our family)
3) ceramic Christmas ornament with the current year to add to our Disney/DVC Christmas tree
4) a shared turkey leg in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom

We do Crystal Palace breakfast before park opening on our last day. Then hit rope drop and spend our last AM at MK riding our faves!

We also get dated pins for every trip and pins for every hotel we've stayed at.

I wish I could recreate the same picture year after year, though. One of my fave pics is me and my hubby pre-kids on the Boardwalk that a stranger passing by offered to take.

Maybe we'll recreate that pic with our two kids on a future trip!

After reading these, it's obvious that we need to come up with a last day tradition. There are many things we do throughout the trip but to this point the only last day tradition we have is to come down with a serious case of " back to the real world blues". Maybe a new tradition would help! Thanks!!!

I didnt think i had a tradition until i read these threads! Our family almost always ends up at MK on the last day. We always stop for dessert on main street on the way out.

We always have a tradition on one of the nights we watch Illuminations. We go to Tangerine Cafe and get CS just before Illuminations begins. Then we sit in the outdoor covered area in front and watch Illuminations as we eat. One tradition I used to have was that on the very last day, as I left the last park, I'd get my hand stamped, just in case my flight got cancelled. But hand-stamps stopped years ago, so there went that tradition.

We take a family picture (dh, dd and I) in front of the DVC sign at the resort we are staying at. At BCV, in front of Ariel, VWL in front of DVC Mickey, SSR in the Carriage, etc. Some do not have the same type of sign (AKL) so we find something that says the name of the resort. Our first trip our DD was 1 and now she is 8. We have 7 years of DVC family picutres.

As soon as we enter MK, we make a beeline for Its A Small World. :) It gets us into a great Disney mood.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

A lunch at the 50's prime time cafe in Disney Studios. Sometimes it's the only reservation we make and I definitely make that ahead of time no matter when we go.

These are the kind of things I wish we would have started when my older two were very young. We do have a picture in front of the waterfall in the lobby of the Poly every visit. IMO it is one of the most beautiful areas in any resort.....I do miss seeing the Macaws though....I can smell the lobby now.

Usually our first night we visit Port Orleans Riverside and take in Yehaa Bob's show. It was a tradition started by accident on DH and I's first visit to WDW some eight years ago. We also purchase a Christmas ornament. :)

We make a point of visiting Raglan Road some time during our visit. Okay, maybe a Guinness is the only way I can bribe DH into doing a little shopping. :)

I get the monte cristo from the blue bayou on one of our first days in DL. So good but once a trip is enough.

We are making our last trip to Disney for spring break with our 18 year old senior son and daughter this March. It is sad to think it could possibly be our last family breakfast at Kona Cafe......hopefully not. We have been going there at least once a year since they were 5 years old. Thankfully we adopted a beautiful baby boy last year. He will be 2 in January and has had Tonga Toast twice already. We are looking forward to carrying on the tradition for many years with the newest love of our life! Just curious to hear some other family traditions at Disney?

We have two. We always have a dinner at Coral Reef and a breakfast at 1900 Park Place. Prior to DVC, the breakfast was on the morning of checkout. Then into the car for the first day of the trip. It's amazing the time you can make when the remainder of the car occupants are tired from a great vacation and a full belly. :-) Since DW and I are flying down for our 25th anniv next October, hopefully we can do the breakfast on the day we fly home. :goodvibes Just need to plan the air travel properly.
