Mine would be Henderson State park in Destin. I have only stayed at one other camp ground besides Fort Wilderness. I di dvisit a State park in Sabastion but would not want to camp there.

Any ideas?

Thanks Tigger

Henderson must really be popular! I have tried to get a ressie there for two different trips this year and they are already booked.

I am staying at a private campground in March but not directly on the Gulf. There is a private campground at www.campgulf.com right on the gulf but I have not stayed there.

We have a ressie for Grayton beach in July (relatively close to Destin) and I have heard it is nice. There is another state park, Topsail Hill, in Destin that seems to be more like a resort. I am going to try and stay there for Labor Day wknd. St. Josephs Bay is on a peninsula and looked nice too from their website. Go to reserveamerica.com and search for campgrounds in FL. They list the state parks.

HAPPY CAMPING!

Well, it was the campground at Fort Pickens at the Gulf Islands National Seashore- that is until Ivan came along. Don't know how long it will be until they get the road rebuilt and the campground open again :sad1:

I wanted to try Fort Pickens after seeing it mentioned by stevenpensacola. I never knew that campground existed and I lived in NW FL for 14 years!

Anyway, I hope they fix it up so we can go and enjoy it soon! Our condo in Orange Bch is out of service for a while so we had to make alternate plans and that is how I stumbled onto the other campgrounds I mentioned.

If any of you are familar with Vero Beach Disney Resort, there is a state campground not too far from it. VBDR is located on the barrier island in Vero Beach, so is this campground. River and ocean access, though theres not a campground on the ocean side of State Road A1A. Its at Sebastian Inlet Park. Reservations are a must.
This is 'hurricane' country here but the parks probably been rehabed by now.
