What is your favorite 50's-60's song?

Stevie Wonder
You Are The Sunshine Of My Life

"You are the sunshine of my life

That's why I'll always be around,

You are the apple of my eye,

Forever you'll stay in my heart.

I feel like this is the beginning,

Though I've loved you for a million years,

And if I thought our love was ending,

I'd find myself drowning in my own tears .

You are the sunshine of my life,

That's why I'll always stay around,

You are the apple of my eye,

Forever you'll stay in my heart .

You must have known that I was lonely,

Because you came to my rescue,

And I know that this must be heaven,

How could so much love be inside of you?

You are the sunshine of my life, yeah,

That's why I'll always stay around,

You are the apple of my eye,

Forever you'll stay in my heart .

Scarlet Ribbons! My dad used to sing it to me at night when I was just a tyke. :teeth:

Scarlet Ribbons

I peeked in to say goodnight,
And then I heard my child in prayer:
"And for me some scarlet ribbons,
Scarlet ribbons for my hair . . ."

All the stores were closed and shuttered,
All the streets were dark and bare . . .
In our town, no scarlet ribbons,
Not one ribbon for her hair . . .

Through the night my heart was aching,
Just before the dawn was breaking,
I peeked in and on her bed,
In gay profusion lying there,
Lovely ribbons, scarlet ribbons,
Scarlet ribbons for her hair . . .

If I live to be two hundred,
I will never know from where,
Came those lovely scarlet ribbons,
Scarlet ribbons, for her hair!

Tennessee Ernie Ford- "Sixteen Tons". :D

I wasn't even around back then, but my parents always listened to the oldies in our house. I LOVE anything by The Platters. "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", "The Great Pretender" - great old songs. And anything by Johnny Mathis. His voice is so pure and perfect.

I forgot a recording that I absolutely love- Louis Prima and Keely Smith's version of "I've Got You Under My Skin". Wow!

My favorite song to this day is You can't hurry love, by the Supremes. The Stray cats and Phil Collins have also done it.

"In The Still of The Night" by the Five Satins. I was a teen in the fifties and still enjoy the 50's and 60's music.

I don't know the name of it or who sings it... but it goes...
"Just hang on to what we got
because you know girl we got alot
Got alot of love between us
Hang on, Hang on, Hang on to what we got..."
(be glad you can't actually hear me singing)

There are so many, but if I have to pick just one, “Lonely Teardrops”

"I Fought The Law And The Law Won:...there are actually too many to name, this one I don't hear often on the local oldies station:D
