I would love to hear your experiences and reviews of the Picnic in the Park at Animal Kingdom. I know you order outside the Mercantile and allow at least 2 hours to pick up your food; other than that, I don't know a whole lot. Do you pick it up at Tusker House? How has the food been? Has this conveniently worked into your schedule for the day?

If you have had good experiences with this, I think we'll do it. We have waited FOREVER in line before for Flame Tree B-B-Q! Plus the rotisserie chicken or a wrap sounds much healthier than lots of the common choices at the quick counter services. :thumbsup2

Any input is appreciated!

we really enjoyed the picnic in the park meal. We got it when we went in October. We had the chicken and ham (we were with another family) and there was a TON of food.

We ordered our food in the morning and arranged to pick it up at the "call window" next to Tusker House. I would definitely do it again - much better than the normal counter service fare.

This offering is now seasonal. There's no way to know exactly when Disney will have it available. Don't know if by making it "seasonal" they mean it will be offered only when it is crowded or only when the weather is generally good enough for outdoor picnics.

There were two different "tiers" - sandwiches and chicken (the ham was discontinued last October). The chicken cost more. Depending on how many people you had, you could select a certain number of side dishes. Each person also got a dessert. If you ordered the chicken you picked it up at Kusafiri Bakery outside Tusker House; if you ordered sandwiches you picked it up at Dinoland.

The food was pretty good (I've only had the chicken). The only thing I really dislike about it is that the only included beverage is one very small bottle of Dasani water per person.

We were there this past week and I asked about it on Thursday (28th). The first CM didn't know what I was talking about. The second told me that the picnic was no longer offered but you could get the sandwiches at someplace in the Bazaar area ... anyway. I was kind of disappointed and we ended up eating at Flame Tree again!! She did not say that it was seasonal but maybe that is the case.:goodvibes

We did it both in June and Dec and love it. We got the ham and really enjoyed sitting by the water at a picnic table. Beats standing in line at FlameTree and I like a CS where my kids aren't eating chicken nuggets or hotdogs. Very healthly sides as well.

I hope it is seasonal because we are hoping to do this again in March!!
