What is your booking strategy?

Earlier in life, I was in a job where it was better to lock in my vacation time a year in advance, so we routinely booked at 11 months, so it became a habit. Now we book home resort at 11 months even if we hope to stay somewhere else.

We always book at 11 months so we have a guaranteed room. We can always try and move at 7 months. Although, that has not been as easy as it used to be.

I usually book at 11 months, but I usually like to stay in harder to get villas like BWV boardwalk views, BWV standard views, AKV value views and AKV club level. Every one of them needs to be booked 11 months out. I have booked in the 3-4 month timeframe but I find that I have to waitlist and/or stalk the DVC website to cobble together a stay.

We own points at HH and VB, so I am always booking at the 7 month window. I have a plan in mind at least a year ahead and use the website to see what may be available. I am always flexible. It is my "hobby" to plan our Disney trips and DH is so happy I keep track of it all because he thinks it's very confusing!
