What is your average household temperature in the winter?

Well, you don't want to hear from me since I live in AZ

72 in winter.......but that isn't too long. A couple of months. We have a few months were no furnace or AC is on. We're in that right now.

When we lived in WA, it was 68 and I still often had to wear a sweatshirt around the house.

'Winterpeg' chiming in here. We have a ton of windows and I don't think they're very well insulated because the cold really comes off them.

I keep the thermostat at 20 and bump it to 21 when the wind is a'blowin. I prefer it cooler so when it's just me during the day I lower it to 19.

I just keep it set at 70 all winter, no lowering while we are gone or at night. I tried one year lowering during the day when everyone was gone to 66 and increased up to 70 when we were home. I didn't see any different in my heating bill, so now I just leave it at 70 all day.

Honestly, I'm not sure it's always cold enough to snow, but this year it has been been sNOwembarrassing!

Edited again, Now that I'm awake Dh has said he's taking me out for dinner; That's a good thing because following his mom's funeral wake yesterday, if I have to be honest I think that's the real reason my brain is foggy today. One would only need to guess how dinner if I make it would have turned out!

You nailed it. I've been married 35 years and my wife insisted on the house being 75 in the winter for the first 25 years. Now, she keeps it at 60 in the winter and 65 in the summer. I went from always being too hot, to always being too cold. Her sinuses also give her fits if the house is too warm.

Not always. My mom lived to age 90 and in her senior years always kept the house cold in the winter. But she also grew up in the depression, and pointed out putting a sweater on was free, turning the heater up costs money.
She had an energy audit on her house and her furnace. Guy came in and inspected her then 45 year old furnace and said she was a perfect candidate for saving money with an energy saving unit. Only THEN did he log into her utility provider to get her usage information. He just shook his head. It would take 150 years for her to save enough money to pay for the new furnace! He asked her if she ever even ran the furnace!

I'm in Maine. DP likes it cool, while I like it a little warmer (although still cool by most of the posts I see here.) I like it 64-66 when home and no lower than 58 at night. I've woken up to 53-55 if DP sets the thermostat before going to bed. Of course, I bump it back up after!

New Hampshire here! 66 when away or sleeping and 68 when home and awake. I have a wi-fi thermostat so I get an email when DW turns the thermostat past up past 69 or lower than 70 in the summer when the a/c is on. I will then turn it back down for her.

NH here too. DH likes it around 66, I like 72. So we compromise on 69. It's a bit cold for me though. Sometimes I bump it up when he's not home.

We kept it at 63 for years. My brother moved in and can't handle the cold because it triggers his seizures so we keep it at 66. We've kept it at 63 for so long that 66 is much too hot for us, LOL

I stay at hotels for work, often in cold climates.

I keep the hotel 80-82 depending on my mood.

Home temperature isn't much of an issue.
Office temperature, oh boy.
About every 3 or 4 years a group of employees.....always people not there 3 or 4 years ago.....complain about how cold it is.
So for 2 weeks we have little remote sensors all over the building.
And the conclusion is always the same, it was actually too warm!

When I was in the mid-west I'd keep the day time temp at 70F. At night the temp would drop to 66F.

In Florida the cold bothers me. It's rarely chilly but on the odd day that the temperature drops I'll keep it at 73F.

Our house is old and poorly insulated. I like it cool at night, 60, and usually between 66-70 during the day, depending on my mood. We almost never use our AC in the summer, only if the humidity becomes unbearable (SW PA).

We're in NJ. Our thermostat in programmed between 65-68. I wouldn't mind it warmer because I'm always cold but I don't want to pay a higher bill.
