I am thinking of going on my first solo trip in December of 2014. However, I will be in college, so I won't have much money.

I'd like to keep the cost around 1000-1500. Is this possible? What do you all budget for a solo trip? It would probably be a four day trip

I have to fly at least one way. If I end up at Eckerd College next year, I will only be flying back to Oregon at the end of the trip. But I'm hoping to be somewhere in California, so if that's the case I will have to fly both ways.

something is badly wrong with the dis reservation.

it was telling me a 4 day ticket (no options) was $717......now sorry but that is just crazy. my PAP was only $423 w/taxes....

it also has the room rates wrong - or Disney has higher them too w/o telling anyone.

anyway alot depends on your plane ticket - look now May will due and give an estimation of how much that will be.

here are some sites

if you are lucky enough to have a discount airlines
http://www.southwest.com/
http://www.jetblue.com/

would go with one of them - if you don't know - then you can ask on the transportation board - they will probably have others for you to look at

sorry can't be more help but right now Disney system makes no sense at all.

#1. your vacation is more than a year out so no special help from WDW reservations. . .they usually have room rates at much less than a year out. #2 Your flight will take up the majority of your budget unless you plan on that being a separate part of your vacation budget. #3 Its doable even with all that but its going to be tough and require discipline on spending. . .

I couldn't do it. . .just sayin.

my solo trips are generally under a $1,000 - drive down, have DVC (so no hotel bills), studios so eat in the room, have a great discount rate w/dvc for PAP so tickets too.

you could consider renting DVC points?

A plane flight to the West Coast is going to eat up a huge portion of that $1000-$1500. You can do 4 days at a value with a four-day base ticket and eat for under $1000. But to stay longer or pay for an airline ticket - might send you above $1500.

Oh - and December can be a a good time to rent points from a DVC member. I've been lucky with renting some cheap points for a studio at that time - brings down the studio price to the same range as a value resort.

It's definitely possible. I got back in May 2013 from a solo trip that only cost 1,450.00.

I also flew down on Airtran since they had a great sale and used Magical Express and Disney's transportation only. I stayed at POR with a room only discount. I could have spent even less if I had stayed at Pop Century which I considered.

I ate at only a couple of TS restaurants, ate breakfast in the room with food I brought with me in my checked suitcase and added some fruit I bought in the food court.
Instead of a full lunch, on the days I had TS booked for dinner, I ate a couple of snacks for lunch like popcorn and a mickey bar to save money (yeah - that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :rotfl2: ). Other days for lunch or dinner, I would order food without the extras like no fries since I get tired of those anyway.

I do have an AP though so I didn't have to buy tickets.

I spent 400.00 on souveniers which was more than the cost of a 4 day basic ticket so if you deduct the 400.00 from my above total, add in the 273.00 for the 4 day basic ticket right now, you are still under 1,500.00.

I hope you get to go - Disney World is fun solo.

okay confused - are you talking Disneyland or Disney world - Disney world is in Florida - while Disneyland is in Calif.

flying from west coat to east coast will be expensive.

How long are you thinking of staying? Because to me, $1000-1500 is more like a week's stay. That does sound reasonable if you're going for that long. But for a solo travel, I would suggest that you try a shorter trip to see if you like it first. No everyone can do a solo trip, so try first. Then maybe for your second trip, make it longer if you liked the first one. This is for Disney World. However, I have no idea about Disney Land. I've never been.

I work with that budget for like a weeks stay. Embrace the Value resorts, CS meals, and aim for value seasons.

Good luck!

Depending on when you go flights from Oregon won't cost a fortune. Looking at $330 pp for January currently. My last ticket was a bit over $400 because I was being picky about the times for an early June flight and purchased much closer to go time. You'll be looking at closer to that $1500 for sure, especially depending on how you eat and souvenir purchasing. I spent a little over $1000 just in the hotel, food & souvenirs (went a little nutso for me on souvenirs since Ive never been to SWW prior, but honestly there was a LOT of splurging on food) but I have an AP & booked POP on discount.

I live in Oregon and flights from pdx are horrible! February dates I'm looking for are over $550....

I went on my first solo trip in January :) I scored $300 airfare and stayed for 5 nights with a 6-day regular park tickets.... so airfare, hotel, park admission I think came to $1100 and I brought $240 for food ($40/day) but I didn't need that much, I basically ate one and a half meals eat day since the portions were HUGE.

I've taken 3 solo trips. Most recently last year. My last trip cost $4,000. But I went during the summer and did the premium plan.

I'm going back in Sept. One week with RT air from SFO, 8-day hopper (incl water parks) and room is approx $1200/value, $1800/mod, or $2500+/deluxe.

Hope to start booking this trip in the next few days.

I'm planning a solo trip for January and my budget is coming in around $1500 without souvenirs and QS dining included. My goal is to stay under $2000

I'm going solo in Sept for eight nights/nine days. I rented a one bedroom villa at Wyndham Bonnet Creek for $595.00 from Shelby Resorts. I already have an AP. I was able to get airfare for $274.00 r/t. Last year I was able to get a rental car for $125.00 for the week. This year I am currently at $174.00 with Alamo, but know it will continue to go down the closer my trip gets. As an AP holder I go down there several times a year, so very seldom find any new souvineers to buy anymore. Go to allearsnet.com and look at the menus. I usually bring something for breakfast (or pick up some things at Publix or Wal Mart Supercenter). I'll grab a CS lunch in the parks, then will probably either grab something at the resort for dinner or go just offsite (or since I'll have a full kitchen may just buy a few easily fixed meals at Publix. I'm figuring about $1200.00 for this trip (maybe less).

Going through a third party, a one bedroom villa at Wyndham Bonnet Creek is cheaper than a value resort through Disney and you'd have a fully equipped kitchen at a deluxe resort and still be physically within the Disney gates. I also have another one bedroom villa at Wyndham Bonnet Creek booked for ten nights/eleven days for another trip in Dec through Aaron Washburn at myresorts.com for just $600.00 (which is alot cheaper than I could possibly get even a tiny value room through WDW).
