While this does in no way justify any possible wrong-doing on the part of the police involved in his death, let’s keep in mind that the man Baltimore is currently rioting over, and Al Sharpton is marching over, was by no means a saint.

But it wasn't his fault. The Devil made him do it.

Keep voting for the same thing, keep getting the same thing. Baltimore has been run by liberal Democrats for almost 50 years and how's it working for you? In the 1950's and 1960's Baltimore was a flourishing economic mecca filled with working class families. Now the murder rate is 10 ten times higher than New York City's and 3/4 of those murders are drug related. Police and prosecutors are frustrated because criminals are released after a short time in jail. Freddy Gray was 25 years old and had been arrested 18 times??? Why was he not still in jail, then none of this would have happened? What happened to three strikes and you are out?
When will citizens wake up and realize that it's time to try something or someone new? Mayor Giuliani moved 600,000 people off welfare rolls during his term and as a result crime was reduced by 67%. When people have a reason to get up in the morning and something to keep busy and give them pride, they are less likely to commit crimes.

None of his previous crimes should be punishable by police brutality, in my opinion.

hmm that is a rather interesting way to think about it.

Did he just get lucky all the other times, in his dealings with the police? Did his luck run out this time?

I live about 5 miles from downtown Baltimore, and work about 1/2 mile from the Camden Yards and that area. Grew up right in Baltimore City, in the "hood", as we all say. Monday when the attacks happened at Mondawmin mall area, they sent us home, yesterday they closed the building I work in(never happened since it's been opened). While I was off work, DH and I went out and got a gun. It's way too close to home to not not have any protection, and DH works nights(it's just me and my DD), so we did what we had to do. We have watched the news for days, I can't stop watching really, heard the Mayor on Saturday say what she said about a safe place for violence(however she said it, that's what it sounded like to everyone I have heard from as well as I interpreted it), and then recant that on Monday and say she didn't say that. She is ridiculous!!!! That's another story though. So glad that they bought the National Guard and all the others in. Yesterday there were rumors of another mall attack right by my house. It is scary times here.

I'm guess you're of the conservative persuasion?

So you're saying cities run by Democratic officials are basically inferior slums?

How did I ignore it? I specifically said we not only need to get control of our police doing the job of protecting and serving, but society has to step up, and give true witness and/or assistance when they see or hear crimes being committed. I cited the actions of the infamous mom hauling her kid's butt out of there as a start of that attitude. I work with law enforcement nearly daily. I believe I do understand a great deal about the idiots who are defying our laws, thwarting our police and bamboozling their families, friends and neighbors into believing it's right and necessary to keep quiet about their illegal activities.

It's heartbreaking to watch parents and significant others sit in a courtroom, hear pieces of the puzzle their child or spouse has either hidden or mislead them about, see unequivocal evidence spelling out the truth of the crimes and the light bulb above their heads click on just as they hear the reality of their family member spending either a tremendous amount of time or the rest of their lives in prison. You can bet your bottom dollar every one of those parents and spouses wishes they had taken a harder line with their loved one earlier, made them face the music earlier when the consequences weren't so high.

Our police also have to be held to high standards, which cannot be forgotten or taken for granted. My experience is the good ones far outnumber the bad apples. We just have to be very selective in pruning our trees.
Your posts haven't said anything about changing the attitude towards police. That is where change needs to start.

Cooperating with the police and giving true witness about crimes seen and heard isn't a changed attitude? In my book it is. It's what's absolutely necessary, which is why I said it.

Not familiar with the source. But heard a blip on the news this morning and that made me look it up.

Since you looked it up you know it's not being reported by any news outlet that is mainstream and all the ones reporting it are using your linked page as their source.
It has been previously reported by various news outlets that Freddie Gray and his family were involved in a lawsuit because of lead paint. It has been reported that he was receiving a settlement from that.

If you'd stop spouting gibberish from faux news sources, maybe I'll consider it.

Toodles.
How is Fox News a "faux" news source? It's one of the most watched and trusted news venues out there.

Let me guess, you think CNN gives the news unbiased.

Too funny! Looks like you don't know anything. You're one of those who gets their info from the street and thinks it's reliable.

Sorry it is just a fact.
TOP 10 POOREST CITIES
What do the top ten cities with the highest poverty rate all have in common?
Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1961;
Buffalo, NY (2nd) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1954;
Cincinnati, OH (3rd) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1984;
Cleveland, OH (4th) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1989;
Miami, FL. (5th) has never had a Republican mayor;
St. Louis, MO (6th) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1949;
El Paso, TX (7th) has never had a Republican mayor;
Milwaukee, WI (8th) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1908;
Philadelphia, PA (9th) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1952;
Newark, NJ (10th) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1907.

Well there's the smoking gun if it is true.
It's all over the news this morning, but of course that doesn't fit with the liberal agenda that all cops are out looking to kill young black males, so I wonder if apologies will be issued to those officers who were just doing their jobs arresting a well-known felon for the 18th time and had no way of knowing he had just had major back surgery.

Sorry it is just a fact.

They all have a large minority population.

This is what could have happened. There's a wall where the man was taken into custody. I can easily see that he ran right into this wall with his bike and injured himself while turning the corner to escape the police. He was already injured when the police picked him off the ground and there were people there watching and didn't see any "brutality".

It can happen but I'm sure most of you won't believe it or even give it a thought.

So continue on with the bashing. But remember that this is still under investigation.
