What is with Hollywood Studios?

I’m using Touring Plans to plan out my DHS day. Even with rope dropping extra early hours, it has hour plus waits for every attraction. Is this a problem with the app, or is it really that bad on a Thursday? Should I be doing Genie +?
Help please.

No, it isn't an issue with the app. Hollywood Studios sees those types of wait times everday. The high wait times are caused by numerous factors, such as:

- HS does not have a lot of rides (9 in total)
- Many of those 9 rides are high demand E-tickets such as Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash and Tower of Terror
- These 9 rides frequently go down due to technical issues, sometimes for hours or they don't come back up for the rest of the day
- Many of these 9 rides have a low hourly capacity, such as Smuggler's
- The Genie+ to standby ratio heavily favoring Genie+ to a point where the standby line barely moves

I’m poking around a bit on thrill-data and seeing I can get a few rides in early, then shows, then come back after dinner for a few more rides, but Lines doesn’t support that with the app. Guess I’ll see what happens and be prepared to just people watch/shop.

Do you have any tips trying to use Touring Plans and the lines app with lightning lane? I haven't used it since 2019 with the old fast pass system. I can't figure out what I should do. If I plan on trying to get a LL, do I click on that option? Do I need to move it up to the top if I want to attempt to obtain a LL for that particular ride early/first?

Not hollywood studios, but with Epcot I'm having an issue. I have clicked off that I plan on using ETPE and am entering from the IG. It is telling me to not go to Remy first. If I force it on the system, it gives me a 75 minute wait at 8:35

If you do early entry for Remy from the IG and get there in the first wave before early entry, you should be off the ride easily before the park officially opens. Rope dropping to Test Track or even Frozen from the back of the park is a haul and the people from the front will usually beat you.

Thank you! That's what I was thinking. We definitely are aiming to get there with the first wave. I guess Touring plans is worst case scenario-ing it? Who knows.

I think they are still working out the bugs to get the software to incorporate LLs. I'd post on the TP forums to get some troubleshooting help. Len will even jump in and chat with folks who post questions.

I'll have to look for the forums. Thanks!

I think Im more relaxed with Epcot because we have the Deluxe hours and can ride most of the headliners then and just enjoy the scenery and short rides during the day. And try 3 times for Guardians…

We did this on a busy week.

We were at the IG at rope drop, but some folks had been let in early. We were at Remy right at the official start of EE, but the wait was already up to about 75 minutes. It goes from 0 to 75 in a matter of seconds.

I think part of it is that for Rat, the G+ also starts right away. So it isn't just how quickly you arrive. If you don't have a G+, expect to wait.

Meanwhile, the wait for Frozen will still be short. By the time you get off Frozen, the wait for Rat will still be about 75. At least if you are relatively quick. If you wait until 11am to return to rat the wait will probably be longer.

We've done a few PM hours. Waits are short, but they are late, and the weather doesn't always cooperate those two hours.

When they work in your favor, they are great. One we had for Epcot though, we were tired, hungry, and it was very rainy that night. There's not much of anything for food. I think we just did GoG, walked the gift shop, and called it a night. We would have done Test Track, but it was down. With TT down, Rat was very busy, and on the far side of the park.

I imagine crowds thinned for those who stayed that night though.

The LL times for Remy start DURING the ETPE time? That doesn't make sense.

We'll be there in exactly 2 weeks so not busy times (in theory). I stalked the times this morning and Remy showed 25 minutes from ETPe opening until about 850 when it jumped to 35 minutes until about 9am. Then I didn't check until later.
