Newbie to DL. From my understanding vacation planning is available if you book a Disney Hotel thru the Disney Travel Co -- correct?? They will set up PS for dining-- any other services?? We will be in DL beginning 7/25-- when do I call vacation planning and make my requests for dining? Do they have a 10 day PS courtesy like WDW where you can set up PS on the 60th day out for your entire vacation. I have read on these boards that PS is not very important at DL but I am interested in premium seating for Fantasmic and WOC (if it is offered).
I am really trying to shed my obsessive planning and have a more laid back Californian type approach but it isn't happening!! Too much east coast and WDW in me!!

I know nothing about WDW since my family won't go. Once you have made your resort ressies you can call them, then give them what you want to do and the times. They will do the rest once the windows open.

Oh fellow uber-planner! I completely understand you! We're headed out next month for our first DL vacation.... I'm having a hard time comforming to the whole California thing.

When I called at my 60 days out, I was only able to do THAT day. I was like *WHAT?* The nice cast member was like "well, you can call tomorrow for the next days reservation!" So, no, there's no 10 day grace period like you're used to at WDW.

And pretty much every reservation I wanted I got, even at the popular noon and 5 pm meal times. From what I've read, the dining isn't that big of a thing there. Such a difference!

As far as Fantasmic, I'm not so sure we'll be doing the dessert package, but we're going to try. Since it's being refurbished right now, I called the number anyways to make sure I was doing the right thing. She said 30 days out, no exceptions.... So I still wait....

Hope this helps!

Newbie to DL: My first time was 1985 after my divorce with my 5 y.o. son. Pretty scary traveling with a child at the time, not ever been to California or anywhere by myself. I was sent a brochure by Disney Travel, but ending up using a travel agency near my work. I read the official & unofficial guides to Disneyland, asked people I knew, etc.... I find it pretty easy to navigate and plan stuff now since there are websites and boards devoted to Disneyland and WDW. My hubby & I still love dreaming & planning our Disneyland vacations with the help of nice folks in cyberland. Happy planning & have a great time!:goodvibes

Thanks! I am unsure if we are doing the Fantasmic dessert package either-- I am really interested in any dining packages for WOC. Have a wonderful trip!!!

Trust me, we have tried for a number of years. They do not relish the flight coast to coast and always use the statement "why do we want to go to a knockoff. These are college age 17-23 kids. They have seen everything on line, they just want to go to DLR and SoCal. They like walking from the Grand into both parks.

Try harder. :) Except if you can only go in August that would be pretty miserable for weather. I would not do August. If you can ever get time off in May or June, then tell them HydroGuy says they need to live a little and try WDW. ;)

How long does it typically take for vacation planning to get back to you once you email them? I emailed them a couple of days ago re: some ressies (although I mentioned WOC as well, so maybe they're stalling on me ;))

I fought going to WDW too for many years. Finally gave in in 2007 and it was the best decision ever! DH was never a huge Disneyland fan but fell in love with WDW.; so much so that he bought me DVC for our 16th anniversary. I still adore Disneyland but WDW isn'y too shabby either. :goodvibes

Tell them it only takes three hours longer to fly to Florida than to California. For that minor time investment they get water parks and the booze buffet (I mean World Showcase.)

thanks, I needed this info too. You don't by chance know if those staying at VGC can use Vacation Planning do you?

Just answered my own question by calling them right at 8:00. Yes, those of us staying at VGC can take advantage of their services. I spoke with a delightful lady who just couldn't have been any more pleasant, and I believe her name was Barbara, but I could be wrong on that part.

I contacted them by email and they requested I contact them by phone. Maybe they dont deal with email requests anymore??

I thought I read somewhere that Vacation Planning was available to people prior to their arrival at DL, which says to me that if I were there and needed to make some changes to plans that I couldn't use them to help make changes.

Did I dream all this up or did I really read it somewhere?
