I went when I was younger and saw this show, and I just got back from taking my kids to see it- 3 and 4....was it always so disturbing??? I dont remember them singing about "blood on the streets" and "all the guys that turn me on, turn me down!" I couldnt believe it. Am I the only one who thinks this is inappropriate??

I'm assuming you're talking about "Blood on the saddle" by Big Al. Yeah...it's been that way for 20 years at least!

This is the original version... it has had those exact words for years. You might have seen the Country Bears Go On Vacation show, but otherwise this is the way it has always been!

BTW, it was "Blood on the SADDLE", not on the street! Is that any better for you?

i agree with you- i think its pretty inappropriate for kids- especially at disney

Big Al's voice on Blood on the Saddle is provided by Tex Ritter, who sang the song originally. If you are offended by this, then please don't ever listen to any country music. Or rock. Or blues. Better stick to humming gospel music.

Maybe you are not fully aware of the adoration that Walt Disney had with cowboys and such, his love of Davy Crockett for instance, ever hear of Davy Crockett? Walt Disney even liked rifles and racoon hats, which means a racoon would of died to give his tail, can you believe that? Walt Disney thought the wild west, cowboys and hunting were fun...you ought to research Mr. Disney, mabye see the movie "Walt Disney: One Man's Dream" at the Disney Studios, I recommend it, very informative. However that is a museum and probably not appropriate for young children :rotfl:

Hm, thats an ignorant comment. I love music, love rock, even some country. However I dont think songs about blood on saddles are appropriate for children.

Ok.. WHOA. Let's be respectful of others and their opinions. You can disagree without name calling.

You know it's funny, I've never thought anything odd about the songs at CBJ. Blood on the saddle is kind of a classic and yes, sensibilities were probably different about stuff like that back in the 70's than they are today.

As for Teddy Beara's "Turn me on / Turn me down" -- that's pretty innocent .. even by 1970's standards.

You probably don't remember because, as a child, you were more interested in the characters than the words to the songs. I would be willing to bet that unless you make a big deal in front of your kids, they won't remember either.

Yes, they sing about Blood on The Saddle. At POC, they are selling women, the Wicked queen wants to kill Snow White, the Haunted Mansion is full of dead people, and during the Xmas show, Minnie and Mickey are in bed together and not married.
Lots and lots of stuff to explain away at Disney. Like the real world, WDW is not just for toddlers, but is big enough for everyone to find what they like and leave others to enjoy the rest.

:thumbsup2 ==> Well said!

100% totally agree with you O.P.!

I heard it with new ears this time around [no pun intended] as my oldest is 7 years old and need not hear that. We will not be seeing it again. It is absolutely disgusting, IMO!

We also do not go into POTC, HM or Snow White. We also skip Tiki Room, Mermaid shows, and others that don't fit with our plan in child-raising. My 7 y.o. also told us HE found parts of AK disturbing with Disney-version idols from ancient cultures. My kids will never see CARS again under my roof, either, for that matter since I heard my son repeat, "she only likes me for my body," a/k/a Tow Mater RE: Sally.

Disney, while very child-friendly, is not rated-G, but IMO PG, and parents have to censor for their own families. Disney isn't just black and white "safe," as parts will appeal to some and not appeal to others. But you will be blessed by guiding your children to only what you find acceptable for your home! :)

Wow, it must get really boring going 'round and 'round on Dumbo all day long.

I remember seeing it as a child and not particularly remembering the lines from any of the songs. My DS hates the show for some reason so we never see it as a family anymore. I'd rather spend 20 air conditioned minutes in there than the 20 minutes in the humidity on Tom Sawyer Island. No to mention my fear of rope bridges. :scared:

I'm a younger guy and certainly no prude, but I agree at least a little with the OP. My last vacation I saw CBJ for the first time in years. Something about the shows dialogue did kind of give off a creepy vibe. Not saying they have to change the show because I didn't like it. However, I personally think this is one attraction that is in desperate need of an update.

Is this sarcasm or are you really like this? :scared:

is this for real?

I sure hope that was sarcasm.

We just came back (yesterday) with our kids (DS11 and DD11). We have been to WDW every year with them since they were 18 months. Never once did we ever have second thoughts with any of the lyrics or lines we heard.

Some people just read more into things then are really there, or were ever meant to be there. Then there are are those that look for those things (and no, I am not suggesting that the either OP or momof2n2 were looking for something objectionable, so don't flame me!) to complain about. Some just have a very vivid imagination, but then again, a vivid imagination is what WDW is all about!
