I was trying to order a few things today, I haven't ordered from them in a long time. But when I went to add it to the cart there is no button for it. It says the item I want , I have to be a prime member. I do not want to pay for any membership. Is there a way to get around this? Thanks for any help.

Is it one of their deals that is available to Prime Members a little earlier than the general public? That's the only time I've ever seen that happen.

I hate to pay for a huge shipping fee for just one item. I may have to forego it and buy at the store. Thank you for sharing.

Can you do the one-month-free trial and then cancel? That's what I did last year. Of course, I forgot to cancel so I still have Prime... :rolleyes1
I hate to do that. I bet they want everyone to go prime. Nice way to get the products you need, and they nickel and dime you.

You should be able to buy things unprime. thats weird if they don't. Either that, or change to a different seller might help.

The one things that get me are the add on items. I just want that item, now i gotta wait to ship something else just to buy those add on items...

How do they nickel and dime you? Most places charge for shipping.
Just for certain product you need to pay for prime, and then shipping costs.

That is my point I was going to order one item but the shipping for one small one pound item no way, so i was going to order some other things so it would make it okay for the shipping charge, but you have to be a prime member to buy the item. So they clearly want people to use the prime instead of just being able to buy the items. I don't want to pay a yearly fee.

I don't know anyone with a prime. So that is out. But thank you for the heads up. I went to the store and bought what I needed. The other item I may have to order from the company.

I agree that the add on items are the worst and I feel like it's pretty much everything that I want to buy!

This doesn't make sense. If you pay for a Prime membership you would not pay shipping costs on top of that for Prime items.

I think you just stumbled onto a Prime Only deal. There aren't things that only Prime members can buy but there are times when something is at an exclusive price for a certain amount of time for Prime members. You don't have to buy a Prime membership to get it, you just need to wait for it to go back to regular price. It's no different than any other type of membership or perks type system.

I'd be interested in seeing a screen shot of the listings to help clear up any confusion. I would ask for links but I'm a Prime member so I wouldn't see what you do that way.

Hi! This happened to me yesterday. I was shopping for Harry Potter shirts. The one I selected was for prime members only... It was really weird. So I didn't buy it. I am not prime.

I just don't want to pay for a yearly membership. I don't order from amazon often. So it won't pay off for me to do that. It is fine for people who do. I was not going to pay a big shipping fee for the one item I was looking for so I thought to combine something else. But the other item was prime so I just skipped it.

Those of us who use Amazon Prime can't really help you with this since we don't run into this problem, which is a shame, since we're the ones that use Amazon frequently and know a bit about it. (I've never heard of an Amazon Prime only item until this thread though).

I thought it was strange also, like I said I haven't shopped on Amazon in quite a while. I kinda was laughing trying to figure out where the add to the button cart was..:rotfl2: I am not upset, just trying to figure it out. And people have explained it. I am not interested in paying for prime since it would not be worth my while. But I thank everyone for the replies..

I'm a Prime member. I bought a scrapbook this week that was marked "Prime Only." This was the first time I had seen anything like that. It's not like it was a great deal or anything, so I'm not sure why it would just be for Prime members...

You can get a student prime membership for half the price if you have a student email. I have my membership under my sons college email. I love prime, but have never seen anything say you can't buy unless you are prime.

I know I already said this, but I'm not sure it was clear. You can get a free trial membership for 1 month. It doesn't cost you anything and you have a month to use it for orders. Just remember either to cancel it when you're finished or go into the settings to make sure it cancels before the month is up so you don't get charged after that. You can also try out the other Prime perks (video streaming etc).
