I head there was a DVC app that will send you alerts when a room on a certain day opens up, that's separate from the waitlist. Does anyone know what this app is?
It's not a true app, but a website (url for site is not allowed to be posted). You will either need to provide your DVC sign on credentials during the registration process (they say they don't store that information) or pay for a "PRO" version of the website.
I thought about building a web app like this as well (and a dinning availability alerting too) into my current point tracking web app, but didnt know one already existed. If its the one I think your referring to, when you pay them the monthly fee you dont have to provide your DVC login ? Why would you not have to when you pay them, but have to when you dont?

Most likely the author of the website is also a DVC Member. I suspect the author will use their own DVC credentials to check availability if you are will to pay them $11.99 for three months of service. The PRO version will also act as a rental facilitator and has other features the standard doesn't.
I'm always curious to see if/when DVC is going to issue cease & desist orders on constantly hitting their site with availability requests... similar to Southwest Airlines. Every time a site pops up that tracks SWA flight pricing, it gets taken down almost immediately. I can't imagine the extra site traffic DVC gets from misc apps constantly pinging it. I'm sure this isn't the only app out there.
I agree with this (one of his facebook posts mentions something about this from 2014 about Disney). I have a BOG availability monitor and it alerts me for my personal trips since I never knew there was one already out there that does this. But mine checks every minute and its only a few requests. I could see the system getting hammered if it has to check a lot of peoples requests all the time. And the DVC check requires a login, where dinning availability is public.
