We're thinking about using some points for a beach visit to Vero or Hilton Head, but I'm afraid I'll get bored. That's why I love the DVC's at WDW- if I do get bored, I can just step out the door and in a matter of minutes be entertained by almost anything I could think of. Is there anything to do at or near these resorts )HH & VB ) that will give us a few hours of entertainment a day so I won't go absolutely stir crazy?

I found HH extremely boring, and hope to never go there again. Unless you love the beach OR Golf, go to Disney!

I totally disagree with Y2Khardtop, we will be going to HH next month for the third year in a row, and can't wait. It is definitely not like a WDW vacation (love those too), it is much more laid back and relaxing. There is lots to do though, depending on what you choose to do. We love spending time over at the beach house, and we have rented regular bikes and rode them all around, and rented the banana peel beach bikes and had fun with them on the beach. The resort itself has many activities going on all day, led by the best CMs we have ever experienced. Some activities are geared for kids, some for families, and even Chef Gordon has some geared mainly towards adults. (And don't forget to do A Private Affair -- our favorite activity at HH). We love the nature activities -- dolphin cruise, kayaking, marsh walk, etc. B'Lou Crabbe is always entertaining with his stories, music, and magic. We love the campfires and especially the cheeky-cheeky dance (hope they are still doing it). My kid's favorite thing is to just have fun at the pool, and while we are there we always meet great people from all over to talk to. A side trip to Savannah is always an option -- we hope to do it this year. We had planned to do it the past two years, but we have been enjoying the resort so much that we still have not done it!

It does depend a little on whether you want to "be entertained" or if you want to find things that are entertaining. You won't find the sort of "laid on" easy entertainment that you do at WDW, but there are still many things that are fun to do at either resort. What you tend to get out is in direct relation to what you put in. IMHO HH has more things available and VB is really best as a 3-4 day relaxation break at the end of a vacation.

As VMS points out there are a lot of "nature" based activities in the area, my DD really enjoyed horse riding along the beach. I'd guess they were out for about 75-90 minutes, but by the time we drove to the stables, they got ready, rode and we got home I'd guess the total time was close to 3 hours. We particularly enjoyed the nature/bird walk and the dolphin cruise.

and we have rented regular bikes and rode them all around, and rented the banana peel beach bikes and had fun with them on the beach.
Anyone know where I can find info/pricing on the rentals and dolphin cruise ? Just trying to plan for May. Thanks.

When my friends ask me about Hilton Head, I tell them Golf, Food, Beach, Shopping...........not necessarily in that order..........and that is the stuff that does not come with the Disney HH Resort....

There are many activities at the resort, along with the beach house, pool, and kayaking.............you can also rent a fishing pole and bait and 'toss in a line' on the pier........

I love that place.............although golf is high on my priority list and shopping on my wife's list.......................

Great relaxation, if you want it........

Thanks everyone for your responses. What kind of shopping is there and can someone please tell me what's at the Beach House? And how clean are the beaches? Is the water clear? And for HH- when is the best time to go when it's still warm enough to get into the water but not crowded on the beaches. Is there a beach directly connecteed to the resort that you can walk to?

Ooohhhh....................

There is outlet shopping all over the place....................

There is also, Sea Pines Resort which is gorgeous, with lots of little shops and restaurants, etc. And the famed Harbour Towne Golf Club...............You can find out how to get there when you get to HH.............

Also, the beach is clean and beautiful....We went at the beginning of October and there were no crowds and the weather was awesome..............Mid 80's at the peak of the afternoon.....

The beach house has a huge pool (no slide), but there is changing areas in the house, and places to sit in 'air conditioned' rooms, in case you need to cool off. There are all kinds of board games inside, etc..............And there is a little snack/drink bar at the pool, as well.................(This beach house is strictly for disney resort guests....can only be opened with your room key)........

The only thing is that the beach house is a pretty long walk, but the Disney resort has a free van that will take you there and pick you up.............we had a car with us, which made it easy to get to the beach house.....................
