I will be riff-raffign it up at the BWI concierge soon!!!!

The worst thing about POP is leaving!!!
Best things-wonderful theming and pools, nicely decorated rooms, good bus service

I hope we're not judging people by how much they can afford to spend on a resort.

Very well said. I might have been mean on how I responded to the riff-raff comment, but I really hate how people judge others based on what they think they have. I know it is human nature sometimes, but to be so blatent and rude about it is really shallow and ignorant.

I learned a long time ago never to judge a book by its cover, especially when it comes to money. I know several millionaires where I live and only one of them drives a new car. The others drive used cars and live modest lives. I also know several people who are financial train wrecks who fleece (lease) expensive cars and live why beyond their means (including vacations). At first glance - you might they are the millionaires, but when you look beyond the illusion they are financial train wrecks waiting to happen.

So as far at the riff-raff comment, don't judge a book by it's cover my ignorant friend. It is so sad people judge other people based on what the THINK they have. I personally judge people on their character not their wallet size. Don't forget Sam Walton used to drive to work in a ten year old Chevy - when he could have bougt GM. Something to ponder.

Getting off my Soap Box.

I think you may be on to something.pirate:

My son (should I call him Mini Riff Raff :confused3 ) and I will be heading to PC in October for our third visit. :moped::cheer2:

Wow! All I really was trying to find out was how different a value was from a moderate! Is it really worth the money to upgrade to a moderate? :confused3 My kids want to stay at POP, but my heart is at POFQ! I was hoping this thread would convince me POP was ok! :earsboy:

riff-raffers of the world unite!!! i am proud to join this circle of "commoners"

we have had many vacations all over the world, and have stayed at some of the most luxiourious hotels, because that was part of the trip and experience, but staying in disney for us it was all about the parks.
we never had any problem with noise level at all in january, we were 60's room 3rd floor facing the hippy dippy pool. during the morning hours we might have heard toilets flush, or a shower run but no different then when we stayed in a 800 dollar a night suite in vegas!!!
we were in the parks for the whole day, and only at the resort for breakfast, sleep, and a quick swim in the evening. i saw no "riff raff" i guess except when i looked in the mirror. :rotfl:

i would have to say that when we went and resort hopped for an afternoon we saw loud obnoxious people at all of them, oh wait maybe that was us again?

how does that saying go? "takes one to know one?!!?"

anyway back OT we found pop to be fun, and bright, and alive, and full of magic!! the CM's were great, the Mousekeeping was top notch and we met some really wonderful "commoners", like ourselves, who we still keep in touch with! the only downside i found was that the trip ended to soon!

It is very naive to link a person's resort choice with the amount of $$s in their bank account.

It is foolish, imprudent to measure a person's character by the amount of $$s in their bank account.

Tinkamom -- We stay at POP because our kids love it! I think it is worth a try and you can always transfer to another resort if you are unhappy. Whatever your decision, I hope you have a fun and relaxing time on your vacation! :)

This thread is cracking me up! A person's resort stay determines his worth in society? Give me a break!

FWIW -- One of the wealthiest families I know loves to stay at POP whenever they visit WDW. And this is not a family rich with credit, but with actuall cash. And I was just talking with a client the other day, who is a VP with one of the top investment banks in the world, and he said he and his family went to WDW last fall and stayed at POP. Believe me, this man is anything but so-called riff raff.

Meanwhile, I know a family who complains about credit card debt all the time, but also brags about their stays at the GF whenever they go to WDW. Go figure ...

To judge people based on their choice of resorts at WDW is just too, too funny ... and too, too pathetic. Get over it!

To the OP...

I can't answer your question since our first visit to POP will be in Dec of this year, however I choose that site because I think my children will love the atmosphere and theme. My children are young (7 and 4) and are a lot more impressed with the parks, characters, and rides than they are with 2 beds and a bathroom in a hotel room - no matter how fancy or how many square footage it has in it. We have stayed at CBR a few times, and it was nice but nothing fancy - the main draw was a slide at the main pool. There is no slide at the pool at POP, however we are going in December so I doubt if it will be in the 80's. Also, I encountered obnoxious people at CBR - so maybe once all the values are filled to capacity with "riff-raff", the overflow travels to the moderates, LOL!!!! :rotfl2: Or heaven forbid, they might even be allowed in the POLY or GF! :rotfl:

The way I see it, our next Disney vacation will be mostly for our children, and I think they will love POP. Perhaps when they are older, we can look through all the resorts together and pick out another that they would like to try.

BTW~ My DH owns a business and deals with "riff-raff" (millionaries) every day and comes home with ridiculous stories on how they cry and pull temper-tantrums if their boats are not ready for a certain minute in a certain day, so we are used to the attitudes of riff-raff. I guess we will fit right in - YEE HAW! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Relax people. I didn't say everyone who stayed at POP is riff-raff. I meant that on average, more riff-raff will stay at POP compared to GF.

It is also very amusing how many of you, in the course of defending the riff-raff, point out that you are staying somewhere nicer than POP.

That's the one thing I have noticed about these boards, the affluent really like to let you know it when they have booked concierge.

What are you basing this on?

Once again, here we go with the judgments...

There are a ton of threads on this. My suggestion is to check out the POP FAQ thread, as well as to do a search for POP Century. You will be able to read a variety of threads. :)

i cracked up at this thread, starting with the riff raff lines

We love the notion of a bargain too.

You have an interesting background nonetheless.

signed,

a mildly miffed apparent Riff raff (no degree) :umbrella:

I will grant you non riff raff status (without the degree - it's not necessary to be considered a non riff raff). Get ready...here it is! :wizard:

Just so you know ... being a riff-raff doesn't depend on if you graduated from college, if you got good grades or how many certificates you have. It's an internal thing. You can be an MBA or PhD making big bucks for a major company and be riff-raff. You can be a high school drop out delivering pizzas and not be riff-raff. Or visa-versa.

And just so you know, I know that. I don't believe I said that you are riff raff if you don't have a degree. It's too bad that I was misinterpreted.

Worst Things About Pop:
* The gorgeous Tie-Dyed Cheesecake is bland!
* That they make you leave eventually!!!

Best things about Pop:
* The great CMs who are fun & excited to see you, several actually remembered me from my February trip!
* The over the top theming, the magic is non-stop in my opinion. Walking beneath Baloo & Mowgli every night as I headed to my room was fun.
* The buttermilk fried chicken, tuna croissants, and twinkie tiramisu rock!

Ok, now I am late for work and misty eyed! :flower:

after staying there for the 1st time this past May- I would say unless I get a rate of $50 per night- its not going to happen again. I had to pay rack rate of $110 a night and it wasnt worth it IMO...

the bad- alot of noise and long lines for the bus and the food court. why oh why only two registers open during peak times.. :confused3

the good- the customer service was great as usual and the kids loved the pool and all the large icons..

granted we are used to towels at the pool, coffee and blow dryer in the rooms, along with a frig and for the money it just wasnt worth what I paid. it felt like a motel to me but than again its all about the kiddos and they had a good time.

Just curious, what exactly makes you riff raff? We stayed at CBR our last visit and this time its pop. Why did we choose Pop? Mainly because I choose to spend my extra cash on fun. A bed is a bed is a bed. The moderates all have doubles same as the values so what is the big deal. You can get a king bed at pop but we are travelling with our daughter. As for the deluxe resorts, if you choose to stay there I say great, same for those who choose value. Its a personal choice that we each make and I apologize for agreeing that the hoity toity stay in deluxe because that simply isn't true. I can afford to stay in deluxe if I chose, same as alot of people I suspect but we make our choices based on what we want at that time. Cudos to everyone for choosing WDW regardless of your resort. Have a great time everyone. We'll be there in 4 weeks. :cool1: The best vacations are time spent with family having a great time. :cheer2:

Wow, if you're so "affluent" rent your own park and stop whining about people having a good time with there familes.

Talk about judgments and suppositions. I never claimed to be in the "affluent" group.

And when you mention having a good time, does it include the things I mentioned?
