What is the weather typically like in October?

DH and I were suppose to come down for the Food and Wine Festival and now he doesn't know if he can make it. Well I am sooo sorry to hear that cause I'm sure going! Actually he suggested I ask my best friend to go and I believe she's coming.

So...can you all tell me what type of weather we can epxect as far as temperatures go? Will we be able to catch some "sun" at the pool?

Average high temps will be in the mid 80's and about a third of the days will have clear skies. Sounds like some sun opportunities to me!

We go in October every year and LOVE IT! The days are warm mid 80's and plenty of sun and swimming time. The evenings may get a little cooler (60's) - we wear shorts and zip-up sweatshirts. Definitely my favorite time of the year at the World!

We have had beautiful weather in October, with a few showers thrown in to remind us that it's still hurricane season. We had one of the best days ever at TL in October, and hope to repeat that this year.

October was always my favorite month of the year in Florida. If I did not teach school, I'd always travel to Disney by choice during October!

It cools off (and by "cool" I am only talking long-sleeve t-shirt weather versus tank top weather) in the evening-early morning and warms up during the day. The humidity is not as bad. You should be able to get some sun.

Seems like every bad hurricane that hit during my childhood was during the mean season of September. Late August-September is hurricane weather to me, but October has always seemed pretty safe.

We went last October and it was a little wet and steamy but the nights were great and the crowds were ven better. Would go again in a second.

The weather in Oct. is perfect. I agree with starbox regarding hurricanes, seaon should be over. Have fun eatin and drinkin at FWF, DW and I are jealous.

We have been at WDW many, many times in Oct and the weather is:
Have a wonderful trip. You have picked one of the nicest times to visit WDW.
The weather is wonderful, the crowds are very managable (as long as you avoid Columbus Day), there is 2 special events going on: F&W festival and the Halloween party at MK,(this is a separate ticket event). Both events are very, very nice. We book trips to WDW during this time period, almost every year.

Went in Oct 2003 and the weather was absolutely perfect! PERFECT!

Went same week last year and it was HOT HOT HOT! I took 2 showers a day HOT! It was miserable.

I would still go back in October in a heartbeat thinking about how great the weather was on our first trip though!

Okay, maybe it's just me, but I find October HOT HOT HOT. So much so that we used to go in Oct all the time, and now won't. But I HATE hot weather, so that's part of it.

I remember in Oct '02 we were at MNSSHP and it was miserably hot at night. All the Three Musketeers bars they were handing out were melted. I went back in Oct '04, and was just drenched in sweat every day. I couldn't enjoy the hot food at the Food and Wine Festival, because it was too hot to enjoy Cheddar Cheese Soup or Baked Ziti outside in the heat.

I'm not saying DON'T go in Oct, just wanted to add another opinion. Again, I HATE the heat, so take this with a grain of salt.

Thanks all for your replies. I actually don't mind the heat in WDW. I mean, this is someone who always goes in the summer! When we were there last week, I think we were in the mid 90's most of the time. So mid 80's will be just fine. I was afraid that it would be too "cool" for the pool!

Yes we're going to be there for the Food and Wine Festival. My first time and I'm really looking forward to it. I do hope DH can come but if he can't and my friend takes his place that's ok. We travel together all the time.
