What is the Very Merry Mixer?

When do they send out the dates and what is it? I saw last year's thread it looks like they came out at the end of April. Is it worth adjusting travel dates by a day or so to attend? We arrive Dec. 17 and comparing last year's dates, it could be close to then. How many people on your reservation can attend usually and is there a fee? Would you take your guests staying with you?

We enjoyed it. It's basically a dance party with cocoa, cider, and cookie/krispy treat. (1 of those per person.) They sell some of the DVC items there. so it's nice if you like to buy those. They also give out an ornament (1 per family). It's usually on the same day of the week, so check that. There is no fee, and I'd take your guests if that sounds interesting to them.

Oh, and they have photo ops with characters in their holiday wear, but if you want to do that, come early and just pick your one must-do, or you'll end up waiting in line the whole party and still probably not get them all.

Worth going to at least once, If the hours are 3 to 5, I would go at 4, avoid the pre-line and people will be leaving after 30 minutes.

We got our pictures taken with Minnie and Mickey I do not remember if there were others.

There's a chance drawing, never won, do not know what for, but I fill out the chance!

There are table activities for kids to do.

This past year I think there still was a line to get in at 4 on the date I went!

By the way, we went to our first Condo association meeting in December and got our pictures taken with Mickey and Minnie then too!

Characters were Minnie & Mickey, Chip & Dale, and Lilo & Stitch. (There were 3 different lines in 3 different corners of the room.)

We finally made it to our first one last year. I knew the line would be long to enter so we waited 30 minutes after the start and still stood in line for 20-30 minutes to get in! Very slow ID checking. It was interesting to see what it was about, got our ornament, drinks and a treat and got out of there as fast as we could. There were lines inside to buy the merchandise, lines for the pictures and super loud music for the dance party.

Daisy and Donald were at our Merry Mixer last year not Chip and Dale.

The line to get in was insane. It went all the way back to the gift shop at the entrance to the World Showcase! My kids had fun meeting Lilo and Stitch and making postcards for the troops. Plus the cookies were awesome.

I agree that if you've never been and are interested you should try it if you can. I have gone once and I could NOT believe how long the line stretched, all the way down to the entrance to World Showcase. It was a mob scene outside and inside. My little ones got to see one character and do some dancing with the DJ and some "elves" which was very cute, but it was a ZOO. Not sure that I will go again for a good long while.... and I love Christmas!!

We went twice. I enjoyed the first one because I met a bunch of DISboard members there (I had the pleasure of meeting Caskbill and Mrs. Caskbill!) and enjoyed getting to know some of the folks that post/posted here.

The second party we attended was louder and more crowded which made it hard to find or talk to anyone. There was a dance party for the kids and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. There were several craft tables set up in the back where you could make some cute little items but when I approached I was told "kids only". The CM told me to come back at the very end of the event and if there were any kits left I could have one but I didn't bother waiting around. We got a cookie and some cider. The lines for photos were long and DH was unwilling to wait given the crowds and the noise so we left after 20 minutes.

If you have little kids it is worth going. For an adult couple I would plan to drop by if you have time in your schedule. Get your cookie/rice krispie treat and wander around just to see what it's all about. Get a photo with the characters if the line isn't too long then head for the exit to get your ornament.
