What is the town Celebration like? SHould we visit on a non-park day?

Does it really look and feel like a small town? What is there to do?

Thanks!

Celebration is a little "made community" that is very clean. There is really not much to do there, it depends on when you go. They often have little parties in the downtown area. Fall they shot leaves from the rooftops. They have some shops, but alltogether it is a quaint little town. No feature attractions though. If you are tired of all the parks, maybe you might want to make a visit, just to relax and stroll down the streets.

I haven't been in about 5 years. However, I enjoyed seeing the town. Yes; it is really a small town and it has that small town "feel." It was very nice, clean, and friendly. I went for just a few hours one day and just looked around. I don't remember anything to do for children. However, that could be wrong or it may have changed by now. I say, if you have the extra time it would be a nice place to visit.

It is a lovely community. I do believe it is overpriced, though, for the average buyer.

By alll means come and visit Celebraton on your "non-park" day. You'll enjoy the atmosphere. Visit the shops, have lunch at one of their restaurants, and then perhaps take a stroll around the lake or relax in one of the several rocking chairs along the waterfront.

Have a wonderful vacation.

Celebration reminded me of a giant movie set. Everything is truly perfect. Had a "Leave it to Beaver" feel to it. Very cute town. If I could afford it, I'd move there.

WE GO TO FLORIDA EVERY WINTER AND ALWAYS HAVE CELEBRATION ON OUR 'MUST DO' LIST. THERE IS NOT A LOT THERE FOR KIDS, ALTHOUGH THEY DO HAVE A CINEMA, BUT ADULTS REALLY LOVE IT. IT IS AN ADORABLE LITTLE TOWN THAT DOESN'T FEEL QUITE REAL IT IS SO PERFECT. THERE ARE SOME WONDERFUL RESTAURANTS AND SHOPS TO EXPLORE, SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A LAZY WAY TO SPEND A FEW HOURS, BY ALL MEANS GO TO CELEBRATION! IT IS WORTH THE TRIP JUST TO SEE THE BEAUTIFUL HOMES!

We visited celebration a few years ago. And it is exactly how everyone has written. We drove around looking at the homes. They had model homes open then you could walk through. That was great! What wonderful decorating ideas. The houses were beautiful. If that is still there you may want to walk through. They sell celebration doormats at the store downtown. It actually has "copyright Disney" on the back!

Hi, I own DVC and own in Celebration. If you are in Celebration, there are peddle boats you can rent to go out on the lake in the downtown area. If you go to the Nev store (electric car) in the downtown area, they will rent bikes if they have them available. That's always a nice way to see the town unless it's super hot!! It's really not set up to entertain tourists other then to walk the small downtown area and have a nice meal. The ice cream is very good in the ice cream shop! If the model homes are open, definitely go visit them. It's amazing to see how much home they can get on a smaller lot and as the previous post said, they are decorated beautifully. Before we bought in Celebration, we would take a few hours and just enjoy the atmosphere in the community. I have never felt so at home anywhere as much as I do at Celebration. Have fun on your trip! Lynn

Thanks everyone! We are looking for a hotel for our first night, anyone know of one in Celebration?

Thanks!

The Celebration Hotel is in downtown Celebration. Very nice indeed! Enjoy your stay.

AZKathy - "Overpriced?!" Your kidding! I would kill small kittens to get a HUGE house with a yard in a beautiful town like that for only 300k for starts.

I live in the Land of Overpriced - the San Francisco Bay area. Try a run down 550 square foot 1 bedroom, 1 bath sad little house that is falling down, needs a roof, a foundation, wiring and a remodel for 300K! THAT is my scary life. This is why I still rent.

If I can't retire in Ireland, I'm livin in Celebration - Stepford Wives be damned.

This year I am staying at the Celebration Hotel the first night we arrive so we can check everything out. Looking forward to it.

Ummmm... I believe I already did. I was admitting it and stating that I didn't care. When you get older and real estate gets higher, "small town charm" - even when manufactured has a lot to be said for it.

PrincessAurora I'm with you:) I am SO sick of seeing garbage all over, grafitti, falling down buildings and businesses going under in my local town. And I live in an old historical town North of Boston! I left NY to get away from all the garbage and high prices there-now they are here. Oh- and all this AND homes start at $300,000 for an ok older home. DH and I loved Celebration! Bring on the rules-it looks BEAUTIFUL all the time. Hope to move there next year.

PatriciaH - I'll share Rice Crispy Squares and Ambrosia over my hedge with you anytime!

http://www.celebrationfl.com/ and it gets better! Houses start for 170K!!!!! and there is a "Posh Pooch" event in May. DAMN!

Let's get this economy moving again. I have some stock options that need to mature so I can get a house!

I SO love the Mouse!

Gotta say what others have said.....

compaired to housing pricing here in the philly area, the celebration prices did not take my breath away (or they did, just because i thought they would be far higher.)

DH and i are still quite young, and would like to travel (in the old camper) for a while after retirement, but are seriously thinking about ending up in Celebration. It is so "Mayberry".

I guess how you look at the prices of those homes is where you are used to living and the housing market in that area. Yes, compared to California, the prices look good. Compared to my area, not so good and over priced for the property. I don't think the wages are as good in Florida as in California, though to compliment the home costs there in Celebration.

Well-I wouldn't compare it to Mayberry. It sort of reminds me of Columbia, Md. before it started to go downhill.
Anyway--it's indeed worth a visit and you can spend a couple of hours looking around. We ate once at Cafe D'Antonio, and had a fine meal.
