Just curious how quick someone has booked and traveled to a DVC resort? I mean has anyone been about to get in a couple weeks before? How long was your stay? Where did you stay?

I once got a studio for BCV 1 week ahead for a Thursday night in early February. I had a business trip to Orlando and decided to stay an extra night and go to WDW. I stayed in Downtown Orlando the other nights. I took a vacation day Friday and then flew home that night. I didn't stay the weekend because the Steelers were in the Super Bowl (2006).

I've done same day. We were scheduled to fly out of MCO and found that they were looking for volunteers to fly the next day instead. We took the airline deal and got rebooked on a late flight the next day. We then called Member Services from the airport and got a room for that night. Love bonus days!!!

We booked Aulani three weeks before our trip in February. We did have to piece the trip together had had three different rooms. We originally booked for 8 nights and ended up adding 2 additional nights while we were there.

Anything is possible but you can't count on it.

It depends on the time of year and what's going on at WDW. Disney's goal is to not have slow time and they are adding events all of the time.

Marathons, Star Wars, F&W, F&G, and soon Marvel Comic characters days.

Then add Jersey Week, school breaks, holidays and who knows what else.

Multiple times, at DTD for a day trip, decided to stay the night, called the resort directly (before MS worked on weekends) or MS, and checked in within 15 minutes. We have done this for OKW, SSR, and BWV.

I have called from the airport on the way to Disney I have added on a day while already at Disney.

I often just go down for two nights

That said I was prepared to stay offsite if DVC didn't come through...

Last Year I booked about two weeks before in August. I had a split stay at SSR 4 nights and OKW 5 nights. Originally I was at four resorts and waitlisted and kept calling so:thumbsup2 we wouldn't have to move so much.

Same day for two nights at BWV, in Dec. I have also added on an extra day during a stay at BCV, OKW and SSR.

In January of 2004, I called late in the day on a Friday and got a room for the following Monday which happened to be the MLK holiday. We only needed 3 nights. The only thing available was a studio at BWV with a boardwalk view.

A few times we booked a weekend, or Saturday to Monday 3 weeks before. We either got OKW or SSR.

For us: SAME DAY.

We were in Pompano Beach on an RCI vacation and decided to try for a visit to Vero Beach. We phoned Member Services and got two nights in a studio starting that very day.

When: Aug 2004
Where: DVC Vero Beach
Room Type: Studio
Length of Stay: 2 night
Booked: Same day as arrival

We fly stand-by, so many times we have gotten stuck at the airport and just had to return to WDW!! It was hard :rotfl2: . Once we added one day in a one bedroom at Animal Kingdom. Last October we ended up adding 5 days at OKW. First we added on night, then another, then we gave up and just stayed for three more days. Each time we added on the same day.

In January of this year we added 3-4 days at BLT the week before.

I guess we are just lucky.

Same day...

Due to human error, we missed our return flight home last June. :rolleyes1

I called MS, booked us a 1 bedroom at BWV with a boardwalk view and we caught the Magical Express back to WDW. DH was on board with anything I wanted for that last night...he was quite the yes man...hahaha...

I wanted AKV, but it was booked. We loved BVW, dinner at Kouzzina was amazing and we also had a wonderful evening strolling around the boardwalk. It was the perfect ending to a miserable morning.

Next time DH has promised to apologize and conform to my plans rather than going off on a "wild goose chase".

Same day is as short as I've booked. LOL We wanted to stay longer and so I called up MS and they were able to extend our trip in the same room.

That was a few years ago, in a 2bedroom at SSR.

We booked AKV one week before our trip. We had another hotel booked, but got some extra days vacation so we added to our trip ( we drove so airline tickets were not an issue). I also believe we had a choice of DVC properties to book at besides AKV .... I believe our choices also included SSR and BWV's.

I just called this past Monday for an arrival next week. Got SS. We have a bad habit of these last minute trips. We rarely plan anything out more than a couple months ahead of time. We usually have no problem getting great choices. The only resorts that we can't get that close is Beach Club and Bay Lake.

We called for any studio for 5 nights in december, mid november.
We were able to get Jambo house AKL savannah view for 3 nights, standard for two. We waitlisted the other two nights for SV, and got it :thumbsup2
