What is the protocol for dietary restrictions and ADR again?

Do we need to let them know ahead of time, or can we just mention it there?

We have a reservation at BB, the PTN package.
DS is allergic to peanuts.
I have major intolerances to dairy and gluten, but I'm okay picking off the menu and omitting anything I need to.

Do I need to have it noted ahead of time? I'm sure I read some people do?? But I'm thinking that's for more super serious allergies

You can call and have it noted on your ADR. All three of those are common allergies so you don't need to alert them ahead of time. Let the host/ess know when you check in that you have allergies in your party. They might have an allergy menu available but with more than one allergy guest you may want to talk to a chef. You can request a chef even with the allergy menu if you feel more comfortable doing that. I have 10+ allergies/intolerances and have had great experiences eating at DLR.

thank you. I figured they are so common, it's not super hard to accommodate. It's mostly the little one that we worry about. But as long as peanuts are avoided (which I don't see how they wouldn't be as long as we mentioned it. Peanuts wouldn't be in anything we ordered anyway)

What is your experience with counter service/faster restaurants? Do you mention allergies as well?

I appreciate the tips. Our last trip we didn't deal with any of this. I hadn't confirm my intolerances, and I was not yet diagnosed with my autoimmune disorder that is affected by these foods. DS had confirmed allergies to peanuts, egg and soy but ate barely anything at the time. He was a pick 2-yr-old. we packed him chicken nuggets lol

I would suggest mentioning it at counter service places, too, to avoid cross-contamination. Simply ordering something without the allergen isn't usually good enough if the kitchen cooks other things that include it. The worst they can do is say they can't accommodate you, in which case it's better to go somewhere else!

I don't have any personal experience, but I have a friend with celiac who has said she can eat pretty much anywhere at DLR, but if they weren't specifically avoiding cross-contamination for gluten she definitely wouldn't be able to. So that, to me, means that even the counter service places can and will accommodate food allergies. :)

Thank you.I will make sure to mention it.

I make sure to mention my allergies when making Priority Seating reservations and when we check in, as well. I then mention it again to our server, if the server doesn't bring it up first. We speak to a chef whenever necessary. (And sometimes the chef deems it necessary, even when I don't think I need it. Better safe than sorry.) At CS places, I ask the CM at the register and a lead, if necessary. Again, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Being super proactive at DLR has paid off. Usually CMs are more than happy to help you.

My experience at CS is that they send a chef out to talk to you. They then prepare your food fresh in a separate area. You will wait a bit longer for your food than if you didn't have an allergy. I've never had a reaction at DLR! (Gluten for me).

I have an unusual allergy and every time I say that I have an allergy, a chef has always come out to talk to me. CS or TS, I have always talked to a chef at DL. I usually make a notation on the ADR that there is an allergy but since my allergy is not a common one, I have to pick "other."
