Just wondering if it has to be done at check in or before you use it or can you do this anytime? How do you know how much it will be?

Are you talking about getting an AP or upgrading to the hopper passes? We upgraded at MK to a hopper pass and it was $35 per ticket plus tax.

How much it costs will depend on what kind of ticket you're upgrading from and what kind of ticket you want to upgrade to.

As for when you can do it -- you can pretty much upgrade any time before your current ticket expires. For example, if you have a basic MYW ticket and want to upgrade it to a longer MYW ticket with no expiration, you can do that any time between when you purchase the ticket and when it expires (14 days after first use).

I asked this question up on the FAQ thread, but since this is an upgrade thread...I'll post here, too. ;)

We have 10-day MYW non-expiring passes with the park hopping option. We used 3 days on each pass in April 2005. Can I add the plus pack option (water parks, DQ) in October??

Thanks!

I'm not sure whether you can add features that late (in October after using the pass in April) but it does not hurt to ask.

Next time, you almost could not go wrong by purchasing the plus pack before you returned home from a trip not consuming the whole non-expiring pass, if you went to Disney water parks later, twice anytime during your life, it would have been worth the money.

You could trade up the pass (only towards equal or more attributes which in your case means another 10 day non-expiring hopping pass). The gate price of your existing pass is $367., prorated for 7 days remaining gives $257. trade in value leaving $158. balance due since the new pass with plus pack costs $415.

now that's an option I hadn't thought of....I could spend $158 and get 3 more park hopping days and the plus pack...

I'd still rather upgrade the existing pass for $45, if that's possible.

Thanks for spelling it out for me! :)

My situation is that I have to make two ressies in order to stay do dining pkgs for two weeks. So I want a 10 day ticket with hopping and plus (expires), but for week 2 I have to buy at least a 1 day base ticket (2 adults and 2 kids comes to 200.00). I really won't need this base ticket and am trying to figure out how to save that 200.00. For instance buying an 8 day ticket week 1 and use only 5 days then upgrade on week 2. I just don't know how to figure out the cost. If I knew how to do it, I could run all different senerios to see if any would work. Does this make sense???

It's my understanding that yes, you can. If that's an incorrect understanding, someone will be here shortly to shoot me down! :teeth:

As far as I know, if you need two back to back resort stays to get the number of dining nights/weeks you want, you need to buy two tickets per person regardless of what ticket upgrade choices are offered to you.

The most you can expand the 8 day ticket is two more days (total of 10 days) regardless of how many days were used up at the time you perform the upgrade.

If you do need 11 or 12 park days (days spent only in water parks, Disney quest don't count as park days) one of the two tickets needed per person should be a 10 day regardless of whether you switch resorts and how many nights are spent in each resort..

So how much would the upgrade be from8 day to 10 day with plus and hopping???

NHBelle - I'm sure I'm probably not understanding your question, but if you're trying to get out of buying the base one day tickets and still get the dining package with your room I don't think you can. If it's another ressie, then it must have tickets purchased with it - not just tickets you previously have and are trying to upgrade (that's why all the AP people were upset). Did I make sense? Am I understanding what you're asking? Sorry if I totally missed the question. ;)

Madge - I agree with WDSearcher - to my understanding you can add the plus at anytime (before your ticket is used up) for the $45.

Upgrading an 8 day to a 10 day costs about eight dollars if you don't add any other features at that moment.

NHBelle - an 8 day ticket with Park Hopping (PH) and plusses = $271, the 10 day ticket with PH and Plusses is $277. If you add non-expiring to either of those, then add $100 to either. These prices are from: DisneyWorld.com and are before the advance price discount of a few dollars and before tax. So if you don't use the 8 day ticket before you upgrade, then it'll only be a difference of $6. If you do use you 8 day ticket any, then count on about adding $34/day/ticket to upgrade to a 10 day of the same type. HTH :flower:
