What is the point of "copying" FP+?

Please someone help me understand...what is the point of making FP+ for 1 person and then "copying" it to the rest of your party? Wouldn't it be simpler to just select everyone in your party and make your FP+ from there?

Thanks for your help. I make my FP+ soon and want to have a handle on all of this.

We had a person add on to our trip after the FP+ window opened, so I was able to just copy our FP's to the 'new' person.

It worked well for me for my trip next month. I am traveling with a couple of coworkers. I already had my tickets, so at 60 days out I made all of the FP reservations for myself. My friends just purchased their tickets this week. I linked their tickets, and was able to "copy" all of my FP selections to them quickly and easily without having to select each ride on each day.

I think the copy is also a useful function when you cannot find a single available FP+ time that works for your entire party - like for A&E. I was unable to get a FP+ time for A&E for 4 people on my desired day. I was able to make a FP+ reservation for myself then I used the copy function to add the other 3 members of my family. This allowed the system to automatically generate FP+ times for my family that overlapped my original reservation.

I agree that for most people, most of the time the copy function is really not needed but there are certainly situations where it is useful.

I found it very usefull especially when you are traveling with people that have their own MDE profile. i.e. i can make my plans and then i can copy my plans to someone else with a different profile as long as we are able to view each others plans on MDE. I know it sounds confusing but it really works out well i have already done this and i will be doing it for my august trip as well

How difficult is it to do this? I was hoping that we could do "mock" FP+ selections, just to test the system so that it would be a breeze when my time actually opens up, but you can't. I am also wondering how quickly the times go. When I get to the 60 day mark in mid August, will I have alot of choice in FP selection, or will I be looking at times starting at 2 pm? Is it like booking ADR at 180 when you have to be online/on the phone at 6 am to get what you want? lol

Thanks for the help. I remember trying to get concert tickets once and it was a website I had never used before, and it was totally confusing. Ended up missing out on amazing seats and it still haunts me to this day. Don't want my technologically challenged self to miss out on FP because I literally don't know how to "work" the system

I had a fast pass to A&E and tried to copy it to my 4 year old. I unfortunately could not do this and called Disney. They couldn't help me and I had to give up my fast pass. I'm so disappointed :(

The only thing that is going quickly at the moment is the FP+ for Anna and Elsa. Everything else you will be fine. We are here now and are still changing our FP+ around the day before with plenty of times options. In fact I am starting to wonder what's the point of the 60 day window- we have changed so many of them since arriving!

We (somehow) managed to get an FP in my wife's name for the Elsa and Anna meet and greet at MK a few weeks back. We tried to copy it to the rest of the family, but no go. She called Disney, and they said there were no more available, which is why we couldn't copy it.

I'm also wondering this! Are there any sites that give a run through (preferably with photos) of what the process is like?

You can "test" the system as long as you have your tickets linked. Because offsite can now book 30 days in advance you can book any day from today +30. You would then cancel them after you've gone through the process because you're not actually going to be there.

I did this several times (practiced making selections for my entire party, practiced making for only one person and then copying to the others, etc.) and found it to be very helpful. :)

It won't let you copy to a child under a certain age (I think 8) without an adult. If you had originally made it for yourself and her you could then copy to someone else if there is availability. A child that young can't enter the line alone so they can't get a FP alone.

I don't think this works if you have a package. I have tried but it knows when my check in date is.

Thanks for the very helpful information. I feel like a moron because I don't even have tickets bought yet! Maybe I should do that-would love to start doing "run throughs". Luckily, my niece won't be with us, so don't have to worry about meeting A&E this time :)

Hmmm. Probably because your tickets are part of your package. You might have to have a second set of tickets linked in order to do what I suggested. Because theroretically you could have a trip planned before your package and Disney wouldn't know your dates but that would require different tickets.
